Abstract

A cement composition for liquid casting, based on a binder comprising Portland cement and additives comprising at least a fluidizer and a combination of a thickening agent acting by steric exclusion and a gelling thickening agent. The composition can also include a surface active agent to regulate the quantity of entrained air. Mixed with water and an aggregate, it permits obtaining, in a single casting, a self-leveling casting of a high thickness (equal to at least 6 cm) and of low density (about 1.6 to 1.9).

Claims (40)

1. A self-leveling casting produced from a cement composition, said casting consisting of:

100 parts Portland cement;

at least one fluidizer;

a surface active agent in an amount of 0.01 to 0.15 part of said Portland cement permitting adjusting the quantity of entrapped air about 15 and 20% in volume in the final casting; and

a combination of a thickening agent acting by steric exclusion and a gelling thickening agent,

wherein said casting is without supplemental addition of calcium sulfate in the form of anhydrite or gypsum and has a density of the order of about 1.6 to 1.9.

2. The self-leveling casting according to claim 1 , which has a thickness greater than about 6 cm and is obtained in a single casting step.

3. The self leveling casting according to claim 1 , wherein the thickening agent acting by steric exclusion is selected from the group consisting of polysaccharides and hydrosoluble synthetic polymers.

4. The self leveling casting according to claim 1 , wherein the thickening agent by steric exclusion is selected from the group consisting of cellulose ethers, xanthan gum, guar gum and caruba gum.

5. The self leveling casting according to claim 1 , wherein the gelling thickening agent is selected from the group consisting of hydrophobically modified hydrocolloids, hydrophobically modified polysaccharides, and hydrosoluble polymers of modified hydrophobic acrylic or urethane base.

6. The self leveling casting according to claim 1 , wherein the gelling thickening agent is a hydrophobically modified bloc copolymer of polyethylene oxide and urethane.

7. The self leveling casting according to claim 1 , wherein for 100 parts of Portland cement, 0.3 to 1 part of fluidizer; 0.01 to 0.15 part of surface active agent; 0.02 to 1 part of thickening agent; and 0.1 to 0.5 part of gelling agent are present.

8. A self-leveling casting consisting of:

100 parts by weight of Portland cement;

from 0.01 to 0.15 part of surface active agent;

from 0.3 to 1 part fluidizer;

from 0.02 to 1 part of thickening agent; and

from 0.1 to 0.5 part of gelling agent, wherein said composition has about 15 and about 20% in volume of entrapped air and a density of the order of about 1.6 to 1.9.

9. The self leveling casting according to claim 8 , which has a thickness of greater than about 6 cm obtained in a single casting step.

10. The self leveling casting according to claim 8 , wherein the thickening agent is selected from the group consisting of polysaccharides and modified hydrophobic hydrosoluble synthetic polymers.

11. The self leveling casting according to claim 8 , wherein the thickening agent is selected from the group consisting of cellulose ethers, xanthan gum, guar gum and caruba gum.

12. The self leveling casting according to claim 8 , wherein the gelling agent is selected from the group consisting of hydrophobically modified hydrocolloids, hydrophobically modified polysaccharides, and hydrosoluble polymers of modified hydrophobic acrylic or urethane base.

13. The self leveling casting according to claim 8 , wherein the gelling agent is a hydrophobically modified bloc copolymer of polyethylene oxide and urethane.

14. A self-leveling casting consisting of:

100 parts of Portland cement;

0.3 to 1 part fluidizer;

0.02 to 1 part of thickening agent acting by steric exclusion;

0.1 to 0.5 part of gelling thickening agent and part of a surface active agent, wherein said casting is without addition of calcium sulfate in the form of anhydrite or gypsum,

said casting has about 15 and about 20% in volume of entrapped air, and said casting has a density of the order of about 1.6 to 1.9.

15. The self-leveling casting according to claim 14 , which has a thickness greater than about 6 cm obtained in a single casting step.

16. The self leveling casting according to claim 14 , wherein the thickening agent is a polysaccharide.

17. The self leveling casting according to claim 14 , wherein the thickening agent is selected from the group consisting of cellulose ethers, zanthan xanthan gum, guar gum and caruba gum.

18. The self leveling casting according to claim 14 , wherein the gelling agent is selected from the group consisting of hydrophobically modified hydrocolloids, hydrophobically modified polysaccharides, and hydrosoluble polymers of modified hydrophobic acrylic or urethane base.

19. The self leveling casting according to claim 14 , wherein the gelling agent is a hydrophobically modified bloc copolymer of polyethylene oxide and urethane.

20. A self-leveling casting comprising:

100 parts of Portland cement;

0.3 to 1 part fluidizer;

0.02 to 1 part of thickening agent acting by steric exclusion;

0.1 to 0.5 part of gelling thickening agent and 0.01 to 0.15 parts of a surface active agent, wherein said casting is without addition of supplemental calcium sulfate in the form of anhydrite or gypsum,

said casting has about 15 and about 20% in volume of entrapped air, and said casting has a density of the order of about 1.6 to 1.9.
