Abstract

A hand-held laser device includes a casing formed with a substantially hollow interior space and having a laser emitter thereinside. The laser emitter is formed with an exciting lamp and a laser rod. A source generating a stream of gaseous coolant is provided within the interior space. A fluid cooling arrangement at least partially surrounding the laser rod is disposed within the stream of gaseous coolant for heat removal therefrom.

Claims (23)

1. A hand-held laser device comprising:

a casing formed with exterior and substantially hollow interior space;

a laser emitter within said substantially hollow interior space, said laser emitter having at least an exciting lamp and a laser rod spaced from each other;

a source generating a stream of gaseous coolant within said substantially hollow interior space; and

a liquid cooling arrangement comprising a housing formed with an exterior area and an interior area formed with an elongated opening passing therethrough, said elongated opening is adapted to at least partially receive said laser emitter, and an intermediate accumulation chamber disposed within said casing and,

whereby to facilitate heat removal said exterior area of the housing and intermediate accumulation chamber are situated within said stream of gaseous coolant passing through said substantially hollow interior space of the casing.

2. The, hand-held laser device of claim 1 , further comprising at least one connecting element providing communication between said housing and said intermediate accumulation chamber.

3. The hand-held laser device of claim 2 , wherein said at least one connecting element comprises inlet and outlet connecting elements for communication between said housing and said intermediate accumulation chamber.

4. The hand-held laser device of claim 3 , wherein a pumping arrangement is associated with said inlet connecting element, so as to provide circulation of a liquid coolant between said housing and said intermediate accumulation chamber.

5. The hand-held laser device according to claim 4 , further comprising a buffer space formed between exterior and interior walls of the casing, said buffer space communicating with said intermediate accumulation chamber.

6. The hand-held laser device according to claim 5 , wherein said liquid coolant circulates between said housing, intermediate accumulation chamber and buffer space.

7. The hand-held device according to claim 5 , wherein said inner wall of the casing is exposed to said stream of gaseous coolant so as to facilitate heat removal from the liquid coolant situated within the buffer space, and an auxiliary cooling element is provided having a thermal contact with the exterior wall of the intermediate accumulation chamber.

8. The hand-held laser device according to claim 5 , wherein a plurality of cooling fins are formed of a heat conducting material and extend from said inner wall of the casing, said plurality of cooling fins are positioned within said stream of gaseous coolant for heat removal from the liquid coolant situated within the buffer space.

9. The hand-held laser device of claim 8 , wherein said liquid cooling arrangement further comprises input and discharge elements providing communication between said buffer space and said intermediate accumulation chamber.

10. The hand-held laser device according to claim 1 , wherein said stream of gaseous coolant is formed by a low pressure zone formed at one end of the casing.

11. A hand-held laser device comprising:

a casing formed with interior and exterior walls spaced from each other, and a substantially hollow interior space;

a laser emitter within said substantially hollow interior space, said laser emitter having at least an exciting lamp and a laser rod spaced from each other;

a source generating a stream of gaseous coolant within said substantially hollow interior space;

a liquid cooling arrangement comprising a housing formed with an exterior area and an interior area formed with an elongated opening passing therethrough, said elongated opening is adapted to at least partially receive said emitter thereinside, and an intermediate accumulation chamber disposed within said casing and communicating with said housing; and

a buffer space formed between said exterior and interior walls of the casing; and

whereby to facilitate heat removal said exterior of the housing, said intermediate accumulation chamber and said interior walls of the casing forming said buffer space are situated within said stream of gaseous coolant.

12. The hand-held laser device according to claim 11 , wherein said stream of gaseous coolant is formed by a low pressure zone formed at one end of the casing.
