2,3-dicyanohydroquinone derivative and uses of the same
A compound represented by formula (1): wherein R 1 represents an alkyl group having from 1 to 10 carbon atoms and R 2 represents an alkyl group having from 8 to 20 carbon atoms.
1. A compound represented by formula (1):
wherein R 1 represents an alkyl group having from 1 to 10 carbon atoms and R 2 represents an alkyl group having from 8 to 20 carbon atoms.
2. The compound as claimed in claim 1 , wherein R 1 represents an alkyl group having from 3 to 5 carbon atoms and R 2 represents an alkyl group having from 8 to 14 carbon atoms.
3. The compound as claimed in claim 1 , wherein R 1 represents an alkyl group having from 3 to 5 carbon atoms and R 2 represents an alkyl group having from 8 to 10 carbon atoms.
4. A display which comprises a pair of electrode substrates and a liquid-crystal layer provided between the pair of electrode substrates, the liquid-crystal layer containing the compound as claimed in claim 1 .
