Abstract

Identification of segments based upon scoreboards and logos.

Claims (25)

1. A method of processing a sports video by a computer comprising:

(a) said computer receiving a video stream of a sporting event that includes a plurality of different segments, each segment represented by a video frame sequence, said video stream further including at least one replay segment which includes a starting logo followed by a plurality of replay video frames followed by an ending logo, where said replay segment is included in said received video stream and said plurality of replay video frames sequentially repeats at least one said video frame sequence presented in a segment in said received video stream;

(b) said computer identifying a plurality of said replay segments of said video;

(c) wherein said computer identifies the beginning of said replay segments based upon identifying a respective starting logo transition within said video; and

(d) wherein said computer identifies the end of said replay segments based upon identifying a respective ending logo transition within said video.

2. The method of claim 1 wherein said ending logo transition and said starting logo transition are different.

3. The method of claim 1 wherein said logo transition includes a graphical image of a logo.

4. The method of claim 1 wherein the characteristics of said logo transition are determined in a manner free from user input.

5. The method of claim 1 wherein said starting logo transition and said ending logo transition are used for an entire said video.

6. The method of claim 1 further comprising creating a summarization of said video by including said plurality of said replay segments, where said summarization includes fewer frames than said video.

7. The method of claim 1 wherein said starting logo transition includes image characteristics.

8. The method of claim 7 wherein said starting logo transition includes a logo size.

9. The method of claim 7 wherein said starting logo transition includes at least one of a logo shape and a logo position.

10. A method of processing a sports video by a computer comprising:

(a) said computer receiving a video stream of a sporting event that includes a plurality of different segments, each segment represented by a video frame sequence, said video stream further including at least one replay segment which includes a starting logo followed by a plurality of replay video frames followed by an ending logo, where said replay segment is included in said received video stream and said plurality of replay video frames sequentially repeats at least one said video frame sequence presented in a segment in said received video stream;

(b) said computer identifying the beginning of a respective said replay segment based upon identifying a respective starting logo transition within said video; and

(c) said computer identifying the end of said replay segments based upon identifying a respective ending logo transition within said video.

11. The method of claim 10 wherein said ending logo transition and said starting logo transition are different.

12. The method of claim 10 wherein said logo transition includes a graphical image of a logo.

13. The method of claim 10 determined in a manner free from user input.

14. The method of claim 10 wherein said starting logo transition and said ending logo transition are used for an entire said video.

15. The method of claim 10 further comprising creating a summarization of said video by including said plurality of said replay segments, where said summarization includes fewer frames than said video.

16. The method of claim 10 wherein said starting logo transition includes image characteristics.

17. The method of claim 16 wherein said starting logo transition includes a logo size.

18. The method of claim 16 wherein said starting logo transition includes at least one of a logo shape and a logo position.
