The invention relates to novel antihistamines and methods of modulating sleep by administering a doxepin analog or a pharmaceutically effective salt thereof.

1. A compound wherein the compound is Compound 7:

2. A pharmaceutical composition comprising Compound 7:

or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, and a pharmaceutically acceptable excipient.
