Abstract

A cable entry device for providing sealing in a space between a cable and a surrounding material. The cable entry comprises a covering, and a first and a second sealing member for receiving said material therebetween. The first sealing member provides a biasing force on the covering when inserted into a hole of the material, wherein the second sealing member is urged towards a surface of said material.

Claims (17)

1. A covering for cable entry device for providing sealing in a space between a cable and a material surrounding the device, comprising a first and a second sealing member, which are formed by a recess of the outer periphery of the covering, for receiving said material therebetween, wherein the first sealing member provides a biasing force on the covering when inserted into a hole of said material, a first wall portion extends from a connection point of the first sealing member and faces the first sealing member, the second sealing member extends radially beyond the first wall portion, the connection point of the first sealing member is positioned at a larger radius than a connection point of the second sealing member, and the covering substantially encloses a core of a cable entry device.

2. The covering according to claim 1 , wherein the first and second sealing members are flexibly connected to the covering.

3. The covering according to claim 1 wherein the circumference at a free end of the first sealing member is larger than the circumference of a free end of the second sealing member.

4. The covering according to claim 1 , wherein free ends of the first and second sealing members abut a first and a second side of the surrounding material, respectively, when the covering is inserted into a hole therein.

5. The covering according to claim 1 , wherein the first sealing member extends outwardly from a first end of the covering towards the second sealing member, and the second sealing member extends outwardly from a second end of the covering towards the first sealing member.

6. The covering according to claim 1 , wherein the covering comprises means for temporarily receiving the second sealing member during insertion into a hole.

7. The covering according to claim 6 , wherein the means for temporarily receiving the second sealing member comprises a recess of the covering having a depth corresponding to the thickness of the second sealing member.

8. The covering according to claim 6 wherein the means for temporarily receiving the sealing member comprises an irregular surface of the covering having a first and a second portion, the first portion having a diameter corresponding to the diameter of the hole, to which the device is dimensioned for, and the diameter of the second portion plus twice the thickness of the second sealing member correspond to the diameter of said hole.

9. The covering according to claim 8 , wherein the second portion will extend at least partially through the hole when the covering is inserted therein.

10. Use of the covering according to claim 1 as a cable entry device.

11. The covering of claim 1 , wherein a distance between the connection point of the first sealing member and a free end of the first sealing member is substantially the same as an axial length of the first wall portion.

12. The covering of claim 1 , wherein a second wall portion extends from a connection point of said second sealing member and faces said second sealing member, and wherein said second wall portion has a smaller diameter than the first wall portion.

13. The covering of claim 12 , wherein a distance between the connection point of the second sealing member and a free end of the second sealing member is substantially the same as an axial length of the second wall portion.

14. The covering of claim 1 , wherein the core comprises a flange, which extends radially outwardly from a proximal portion of the core.

15. The covering of claim 14 , wherein the flange extends radially beyond the first wall portion of the covering.

16. The covering of claim 15 , wherein the detent is arranged to provide an abutment for the biasing force provided by the first sealing member when inserted into a hole of said material.

17. The covering of claim 1 , wherein the core comprises a detent, which extends radially outwardly from a distal portion of the core.
