Abstract

An improved firearm having a barrel coupled to an upper receiver where the receiver includes a passageway extending generally parallel to the longitudinal axis, and a guidance feature extending along the passageway generally parallel to the longitudinal axis. The firearm also includes a lower receiver coupled to the upper receiver and a recoil spring assembly comprising a mating attachment structure and a disassembly button disposed on a lateral side of the upper receiver. The mating attachment structure is attached to an attachment structure of the lower receiver to attach the lower receiver to the upper receiver. Actuation of the disassembly button detaches the mating attachment structure from the attachment structure to detach the lower receiver from the upper receiver.

Claims (16)

1. A firearm comprising:

a barrel;

an upper receiver coupled to the barrel and comprising a longitudinal axis, a passageway extending generally parallel to the longitudinal axis, and a guidance feature extending along the passageway generally parallel to the longitudinal axis;

a lower receiver coupled to the upper receiver; and

a recoil spring assembly comprising a mating attachment structure and a disassembly button, wherein the mating attachment structure is attached to an attachment structure of the lower receiver to attach the lower receiver to the upper receiver, wherein actuation of the disassembly button detaches the mating attachment structure from the attachment structure to detach the lower receiver from the upper receiver, wherein the disassembly button is disposed on a lateral side of the upper receiver.

2. The firearm of claim 1 , wherein the mating attachment structure comprises a protrusion and the attachment structure of the lower receiver comprises a recess.

3. The firearm of claim 1 , wherein the mating attachment structure comprises a collar and the attachment structure of the lower receiver comprises a protrusion.

4. The firearm of claim 3 wherein the collar comprises an inner surface and the protrusion comprises an outer surface, wherein the inner surface of the collar is approximately the same length as the outer surface of the protrusion.

5. A firearm comprising:

an upper receiver having a pivot hole;

a lower receiver comprising a pivot hole and an attachment structure;

a receiver pin configured to extend through the pivot hole of the upper receiver and the pivot hole of the lower receiver; and

a recoil spring assembly comprising a mating attachment structure and a disassembly button, wherein the disassembly button is disposed on a lateral side of the upper receiver and wherein the mating attachment structure engages the attachment structure of the lower receiver to secure the lower receiver to the upper receiver, wherein actuation of the disassembly button detaches the mating attachment structure from the attachment structure and allows the lower receiver to pivot away from the upper receiver.

6. The firearm of claim 5 , wherein the mating attachment structure comprises a protrusion and the attachment structure of the lower receiver comprises a recess.

7. The firearm of claim 5 , wherein the mating attachment structure comprises a collar and the attachment structure of the lower receiver comprises a protrusion.

8. The firearm of claim 7 wherein the collar comprises an inner surface and the protrusion comprises an outer surface, wherein the inner surface of the collar is approximately the same length as the outer surface of the protrusion.
