Method and circuit for storing and providing historical physiological data
Embodiments of the present invention include systems and methods that relate to pulse oximetry. Specifically, one embodiment includes an oximeter sensor comprising a light emitting element configured to emit light, a light detector configured to detect the light, and a memory storing an optical shunting measurement for the oximeter sensor.
1. An oximeter system, comprising:
an oximeter sensor, comprising:
a light emitting element configured to emit light;
a light detector configured to detect the light; and
a memory storing an optical shunting measurement for the oximeter sensor; and
an oximeter monitor, comprising:
a drive circuit configured to provide signals to circuitry of the oximeter sensor; and
a receiving circuit configured to receive data including the optical shunting measurement from the oximeter sensor, wherein the optical shunting measurement facilitates adjustment of a processing coefficient.
2. The system of claim 1 , comprising a plurality of optical shunting measurements stored in the memory, the plurality of optical shunting measurements relating to a family of oximeter sensors.
3. An oximeter monitor, comprising:
a drive circuit configured to provide signals to circuitry of an oximeter sensor;
a circuit configured to receive an optical shunting measurement of the oximeter sensor from a memory of the sensor; and
an adjustment circuit configured to read processing coefficients from the oximeter sensor and adjust the processing coefficients based on the optical shunting measurement.
4. A method of monitor operation, comprising:
providing signals to circuitry of an oximeter sensor that is configured to couple to a patient;
receiving information from a memory of the oximeter sensor, the information comprising an optical shunting measurement for the oximeter sensor; and
reading processing coefficients from the oximeter sensor and adjusting the processing coefficients based on the optical shunting measurement.
5. The method of claim 4 , comprising receiving a plurality of optical shunting measurements for a family of oximeter sensors.
6. An oximeter monitor, comprising:
a drive circuit configured to provide signals to circuitry of an oximeter sensor;
a circuit configured to receive an optical shunting measurement of the oximeter sensor from a memory of the sensor; and
an adjustment circuit configured to store processing coefficients and adjust the processing coefficients based on the optical shunting measurement.
7. A method of monitor operation, comprising:
providing signals to circuitry of an oximeter sensor that is configured to couple to a patient;
receiving information from a memory of the oximeter sensor, the information comprising an optical shunting measurement for the oximeter sensor; and
storing processing coefficients and adjusting the processing coefficients based on the optical shunting measurement.
8. The method of claim 7 , comprising receiving a plurality of optical shunting measurements for a family of oximeter sensors.
