Abstract

Methods and systems for grouping, recovering, and processing ice obtained from an ice source, i.e., a glacier, ice sheet, ice cap, etc., are described herein. In particular, the ice obtained from the ice source is separated and grouped according to common unique properties and processed as a beverage for consumption having the same unique properties.

Claims (20)

1. A method for producing a bottled water derived from glacial ice having a pre-determined age, comprising:

a) identifying a volume of glacial ice having a vertical depth;

b) analyzing gas trapped within said volume of glacial ice to determine at least a first layer and at least a second layer;

c) said first layer characterized by a vertical depth comprising a span of approximately 50 to approximately 100 years of age;

d) recovering water from said first layer, said step of recovering conducted so as not to include substantial amounts of water or ice from said second layer;

e) conveying said recovered water directly from the glacial ice through a pipe;

f) collecting said extracted water;

g) directing said collected water into a bottle in liquid form devoid of ice; and

h) providing an indication on said bottle related to said determined age of a water in said bottle.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein said indication comprises a historical figure having a lifespan at least partially overlapping with the predetermined age of the first layer.

3. The method of claim 2 , wherein the historical figure is selected from the group consisting of a politician, a religious figure, an artist, a philosopher, a scientist, an actor, and an explorer.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein said water is recovered from the terminus of a glacier.

5. The method of claim 1 , wherein a source of water not derived from glacial ice is selected and directed into said container.

6. A method for producing bottled water derived from glacial ice having a predetermined age, comprising:

a) identifying a volume of glacial ice having a vertical depth;

b) analyzing gas trapped within said volume of glacial ice to determine at least a first layer and at least a second layer;

c) said first layer characterized by a vertical depth of ice comprising a span of approximately 50 to approximately 100 years of age and said second layer comprising a volume of ice beneath said first layer;

d) recovering water from said first layer that is determined to be of a particular age, said recovering step comprising conveying said water directly from the glacial ice through a pipe such that said water is prevented from flowing any horizontal distance;

f) directing said collected water into a container; and

g) providing an indication on said container.
