Abstract

The present invention provides a Mycoplasma pneumoniae community acquired respiratory distress syndrome (CARDS) toxin, biologically active fragments/domains of the CARDS toxin, antibodies to the CARDS toxin and nucleic acids encoding the CARDS toxin. Also provided are methods of diagnosing, treating and/or preventing infection by Mycoplasma pneumoniae using the compositions provided herein.

Claims (2)

1. An isolated polypeptide comprising an amino acid sequence selected from the group consisting of the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:2, the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:3, the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:4, the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:5, and the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:6.

2. A composition comprising the polypeptide of claim 1 and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.
