Abstract

Method for generating reference signal sequence using grouping is explained. In this method, base sequences are grouped such that each group contains at least one base sequence of each length, so UE(s) can use various length sequences as a reference signal. And in this method, inter cell interference caused by using various length sequence as a reference signal sequence can be minimized by grouping sequences having the high cross correlation relation.

Claims (22)

1. A method for a user equipment (UE) to transmit reference signal sequences to a base station, the method comprising:

acquiring a reference signal sequence by using sequences divided into groups,

wherein each group comprises sequences generated by using Zadoff-Chu (ZC) sequences having lengths of N 1 , N 2 , . . . , N M and having sequence indices of s 1 , s 2 , . . . , s M for each length respectively, wherein any of two sequence indices s i and s j (i and jε{1, 2, . . . , M}) of sequences within the same group are closest integer numbers satisfying the equation:

s i /N i =s j /N j ,

wherein the reference signal sequence is acquired by using sequences of a group having a group index determined based on a cell identification, and

transmitting the acquired reference signal sequence to the base station.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein each group further comprises sequences generated by using ZC sequences having lengths greater than a predetermined length and having sequence indices other than the sequence indices of s 1 , s 2 , . . . , s M for the corresponding ZC sequence length.

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein each group comprises at least one sequence for each length of N 1 , N 2 , . . . , N M .

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein a length of the reference signal sequence corresponds to an integer multiple of a resource block size in a frequency domain.

5. The method of claim 1 , wherein each group further comprises sequences defined by using another type of sequence other than the ZC sequence.

6. A user equipment (UE) for transmitting reference signal sequences to a base station, the UE comprising:

a transceiver configured to transmit signals; and

a processor configured to:

acquire a reference signal sequence by using sequences divided into groups,

wherein each group comprises sequences generated by using Zadoff-Chu (ZC) sequences having lengths of N 1 , N 2 , . . . , N M and having sequence indices of s 1 , s 2 , . . . , S M for each length respectively, wherein any of two sequence indices s i and s j (i and jε{1, 2, . . . , M}) of sequences within the same group are closest integer numbers satisfying the equation:

s i /N i =s j /N j ,

wherein the reference signal sequence is acquired by using sequences of a group having a group index determined based on a cell identification, and

control the transceiver to transmit the acquired reference signal sequence to the base station.

7. The UE of claim 6 , wherein each group further comprises sequences generated by using ZC sequences having lengths greater than a predetermined length and having sequence indices other than the sequence indices of s 1 , s 2 , . . . , s M for the corresponding ZC sequence length.

8. The UE of claim 6 , wherein each group comprises at least one sequence for each length of N 1 , N 2 , . . . , N M .

9. The UE of claim 6 , wherein a length of the reference signal sequence corresponds to an integer multiple of a resource block size in a frequency domain.

10. The UE of claim 6 , wherein each group further comprises sequences defined by using another type of sequence other than the ZC sequence.
