Abstract

A pneumatic tire with a noise damper made of a spongelike multi-cellular material is disclosed. The noise damper is divided into small dampers to improve the high-speed durability of the tire. The noise damper is provided with a water-impermeable outer coating to prevent water from infiltrating into the spongelike multi-cellular material during transporting, store keeping and the like.

Claims (12)

1. A tire noise damper comprising

a strip of a spongelike multi-cellular material having a specific gravity of from 0.005 to 0.06, and

a water-impermeable outer coating covering the entire surface of the strip to prevent water from infiltrating thereinto, wherein

the outer coating is a flexible film having a thickness of from 0.01 to 0.10 mm,

the film is fixed to a first surface of the strip but the film is unfixed to the other surface of the strip than said first surface,

a double-sided adhesive tape with a release liner is applied to the fixed part of the film to said first surface so as to be fixable to an inner surface of a tire or alternatively an inner surface of a wheel rim facing a tire cavity.

2. The tire noise damper according to claim 1 , wherein

the film is fixed to the first surface by means of a double-sided adhesive tape, whereby said fixed part of the film is sandwiched between the two double-sided adhesive tapes.

3. The tire noise damper according to claim 1 , wherein

the film wraps the strip loosely.

4. The tire noise damper according to claim 2 , wherein

the film wraps the strip loosely.
