Abstract

A baseband processor of a distributed architecture for monitoring mobile communication in a wireless communication network is claimed. Systems and methods enable receiving reporting data related to events that occur in a wireless network from the perspective of the wireless device. The data management system is capable of generating a data reporting profile and communicating with a wireless device. The application processor is capable of monitoring and reporting a plurality of conditions within the wireless device and sending and receiving communications from the data management system. The baseband processor is capable of monitoring and reporting plurality of conditions on the wireless network and sending and receiving communications with the application processor. Both the application processor and the baseband processor monitor and report the conditions of the device and the network by applying a series of logical rules found within the data reporting profile.

Claims (18)

1. A method for operation of a baseband processor apparatus communicatively coupled to a wireless network and further communicatively coupled to an application processor apparatus, the method comprising:

monitoring and reporting conditions on said baseband processor;

sending and receiving communications with the application processor;

applying a series of logical rules found within a data reporting profile which governs the manner in which reporting data from a plurality of clients operating in said baseband processor should be created and transferred;

filtering a plurality of reporting data into a plurality of reporting packages according to the date reporting profile;

reporting the reporting packages to the application processor; and

receiving from the application processor a second data reporting profile.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the reporting data from the plurality of clients operating in said baseband processor comprises data describing the conditions of the wireless communication system including signal strength, signal to noise ratio, neighbor list, or any combination thereof.

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein series of logical rules found within the data reporting profile comprises triggering criteria indicating when reporting data should be created and stored.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein said series of logical rules found within the data reporting profile comprises filtering criteria indicating which reporting data should be stored and subsequently transferred to the data management system.

5. The method of claim 1 , wherein series of logical rules found within the data reporting profile comprises a plurality of uploading criteria which determine when the reporting data should be sent to the system.

6. The method of claim 1 , wherein the logical rules found within the data reporting profile are created using a series of executable commands within the data reporting profile.

7. The method of claim 6 , wherein said series of executable commands comprise Forth computer programming commands.

8. A broadband processor apparatus within a wireless device, for transmitting reporting data related to event that occur in a wireless communication system of the wireless device, the apparatus comprising:

a broadband processor communicatively coupled to a wireless network and further coupled to an application processor;

a computer readable and writable store coupled to the broadband processor capable of storing data reporting profiles and reporting data;

the broadband processor being capable of monitoring and reporting plurality of conditions and sending and receiving communications with the application processor;

applying a series of logical rules found within the data reporting profile which governs the manner in which reporting data should be created and transferred to a data management system via the wireless network.
