Abstract

An electro-optical device includes a pair of first and second substrates. A pixel region on the first substrate. A seal material arranged along the periphery of the pixel region. An alignment mark located between the outer edge side of the second substrate and the seal material, The alignment mark is provided in at least one of four corner regions partially defined by four corners of the second substrate, and is used during alignment of the first and second substrates.

Claims (56)

1. An electro-optical device comprising:

a first substrate;

pixel electrodes formed above the first substrate within a pixel region;

a second substrate;

a seal material, which is formed in a sealing region outside of the pixel region, bonding the first substrate and the second substrate;

a counter electrode formed above the second substrate, the counter electrode being opposite to the pixel electrode at the pixel region and extending beyond the sealing region;

a first conductive terminal formed above the first substrate and electrically connected to the counter electrode, the first conductive terminal disposed in a first corner region among four corner regions, the four corner regions being outside of both the pixel region and the sealing region and the four corner regions being between the first substrate and the second substrate; and

a first alignment mark disposed in the first corner region, the first alignment mark being disposed between the first conductive terminal and the seal material.

2. The electro-optical device according to claim 1 , further comprising a second conductive terminal, a third conductive terminal, a fourth conductive terminal, a second alignment mark, a third alignment mark, and a fourth alignment mark,

the second conductive terminal and the second alignment mark being disposed in a second corner region among the four corner regions,

the third conductive terminal and the third alignment mark being disposed in a third corner region among the four corner regions, and

the fourth conductive terminal and the fourth alignment mark being disposed in a fourth corner region among the four corner regions,

wherein each of the second alignment mark, third alignment mark and fourth alignment mark are disposed between the first conductive terminal and the seal material.

3. The electro-optical device according to claim 1 ,

the first conductive terminal being disposed in a first corner region among the four corner regions,

the first alignment mark being disposed in a second corner region among the four corner regions.

4. The electro-optical device according to claim 3 , further comprising a second conductive terminal, and a second alignment mark,

the second conductive terminal being disposed in a third corner region among the four corner regions,

the first corner region and the third corner region being diagonal corner region,

the second alignment mark being disposed in a fourth corner region among the four corner regions, and

the second corner region and the fourth corner region being diagonal corner region.

5. The electro-optical device according to claim 3 , further comprising a second conductive terminal, and a second alignment mark,

the second conductive terminal being disposed in a third corner region among the four corner regions,

the first corner region and the third corner region being located at both ends of one side of the second substrate respectively,

the second alignment mark being disposed in a fourth corner region among the four corner regions, and

the second corner region and the fourth corner region being located at both ends of other side of the second substrate respectively.

6. An electronic apparatus comprising the electro-optical device according to claim 1 .

7. The electro-optical device according to claim 1 , wherein the conductive terminal has an irregular pentagon shape.

8. An electro-optical device comprising:

a first substrate;

pixel electrodes formed above the first substrate within a pixel region;

a second substrate;

a seal material, which is formed in a sealing region outside of the pixel region, bonding the first substrate and the second substrate,;

a counter electrode formed above the second substrate, the counter electrode being opposite to the pixel electrode at the pixel region and extending beyond the sealing region;

a first conductive terminal formed above the first substrate and electrically connected to the counter electrode, the first conductive terminal disposed in four corner regions, the four corner regions being outside of both the pixel region and the sealing region and the four corner regions being between the first substrate and the second substrate; and

an first alignment mark comprising an aluminum material disposed in the first corner region, the first alignment mark being disposed between the first conductive terminal and the seal material.

9. The electro-optical device according to claim 8 , further comprising a second conductive terminal, a third conductive terminal, a fourth conductive terminal, a second alignment mark, a third alignment mark, and a fourth alignment mark,

the second conductive terminal and the second alignment mark being disposed in a second corner region among the four corner regions,

the third conductive terminal and the third alignment mark being disposed in a third corner region among the four corner regions, and

the fourth conductive terminal and the fourth alignment mark being disposed in a fourth corner region among the four corner regions,

wherein each of the second alignment mark, third alignment mark and fourth alignment mark are disposed between the first conductive terminal and the seal material.

10. The electro-optical device according to claim 8 ,

the first conductive terminal being disposed in a first corner region among the four corner regions,

the first alignment mark being disposed in a second corner region among the four corner regions.

11. The electro-optical device according to claim 10 , further comprising a second conductive terminal, and a second alignment mark,

the second conductive terminal being disposed in a third corner region among the four corner regions,

the first corner region and the third corner region being diagonal corner region,

the second alignment mark being disposed in a fourth corner region among the four corner regions, and

the second corner region and the fourth corner region being diagonal corner region.

12. The electro-optical device according to claim 10 , further comprising a second conductive terminal, and a second alignment mark,

the second conductive terminal being disposed in a third corner region among the four corner regions,

the first corner region and the third corner region being located at both ends of one side of the second substrate respectively,

the second alignment mark being disposed in a fourth corner region among the four corner regions, and

the second corner region and the fourth corner region being located at both ends of other side of the second substrate respectively.

13. An electronic apparatus comprising the electro-optical device according to claim 8 .

14. The electro-optical device according to claim 8 , wherein the conductive terminal has an irregular pentagon shape.
