Abstract

An image encoding method for encoding an image in an image encoding apparatus. The encoding process includes performing, in a quantization unit in the image encoding apparatus, quantization on a chroma component of transform coefficients using a chroma quantization parameter calculated on the basis of a luma quantization parameter weighted by an addition operation that adds a weight parameter; and encoding, in an encoding unit in the image encoding apparatus, a chroma component of quantized coefficients.

Claims (16)

1. An image encoding method for encoding an image in an image encoding apparatus, the method comprising:

setting, in an encoding unit in the image encoding apparatus, a weight parameter that is added to a luma quantization parameter;

performing, in a quantization unit in the image encoding apparatus, quantization on a chroma component of transform coefficients using a chroma quantization parameter calculated on the basis of the luma quantization parameter weighted by an addition operation that adds the weight parameter; and

encoding, in an encoding unit in the image encoding apparatus, a chroma component of quantized coefficients.

2. An image encoding apparatus for encoding an image comprising:

means for setting a weight parameter that is added to a luma quantization parameter;

means for quantizing a chroma component of transform coefficients using a chroma quantization parameter calculated on the basis of the luma quantization parameter weighted by an addition operation that adds the weight parameter; and

means for encoding a chroma component of quantized coefficients.

3. A non-transitory computer readable storage medium encoded with a computer program, which when executed by an image encoding apparatus including a processor causes the image encoding apparatus to implement an image encoding method for encoding an image, the method comprising:

setting, in an encoding unit in the image encoding apparatus, a weight parameter that is added to a luma quantization parameter;

performing, in a quantization unit in the image encoding apparatus, quantization on a chroma component of transform coefficients using a chroma quantization parameter calculated on the basis of the luma quantization parameter weighted by an addition operation that adds the weight parameter; and

encoding, in an encoding unit in the image encoding apparatus, a chroma component of quantized coefficients.

4. An image encoding apparatus for encoding an image comprising:

an encoding unit, in the image encoding apparatus, configured to set a weight parameter that is added to a luma quantization parameter;

a quantization unit configured to quantize a chroma component of transform coefficients using a chroma quantization parameter calculated on the basis of the luma quantization parameter weighted by an addition operation that adds the weight parameter; and

an encoder configured to encode a chroma component of quantized coefficients.
