Method and apparatus for extraction of a sample from a sample source
The present invention relate to a method and corresponding apparatus for extraction of a sample from a sample source. A fluid is injected into the sample source and the sample source is vibrated. A sample is withdrawn from the vibrated sample source and the sample source is evaluated by measuring one or more identifying parameters in the withdrawn sample.
1. An apparatus for extraction of a sample from a sample source, the apparatus comprising:
a bi-directional needle-free injector that injects a fluid into the sample source, vibrates the sample source to facilitate withdrawal of the sample from the sample source and withdraws the sample from the sample source; and
a sample evaluator that evaluates the sample source as a function of measuring one or more identifying parameters in the withdrawn sample.
2. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein the injector is configured to inject into, vibrate, and withdraw from tissue of a biological body as the sample source.
3. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein the injected fluid is physiological saline.
4. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein the injector is configured to withdraw an extracellular fluid as the sample.
5. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein the one or more identifying parameters include metabolic or proteomic parameters.
6. A method for extraction of a sample from a sample source using the apparatus of claim 1 , the method comprising:
injecting a fluid into the sample source;
vibrating the sample source and withdrawing a sample from the sample source; and
evaluating the sample source as a function of measuring one or more identifying parameters in the withdrawn sample.
7. The method of claim 1 wherein the sample source includes tissue of a biological body.
8. The method of claim 1 wherein the injected fluid is physiological saline.
9. The method of claim 1 wherein the withdrawn sample is an extracellular fluid.
10. The method of claim 1 wherein the one or more identifying parameters include metabolic or proteomic parameters.
