Abstract

Gaming machines and games are configured with one or more wheel events or features. The wheel events or features may comprise main games or bonus games, or may comprise entertaining representations of outcomes of other games or events. The wheel events comprise the selection of one or more segments of a wheel having associated awards. Wheel events may have various entertaining configurations, such as morphing wheels, symbols that reveal awards and the like.

Claims (23)

1. A wheel event for a wagering game comprising the steps of:

displaying a wheel having an initial number of segments having associated awards, each of said initial segments having an initial size;

initiating a wheel segment selection event;

causing two or more of said segments to merge together, creating one or more combined segments having a size which is greater than said initial size of said two or more segments which were merged and causing said wheel to have a final number of segments less than said initial number of segments;

aggregating awards of merged segments; and

displaying a selected segment from said final number of segments and its associated award.

2. The wheel event in accordance with claim 1 , wherein said associated awards comprise numerical values.

3. The wheel event in accordance with claim 1 wherein said step of initiating a wheel segment selection event comprises spinning said wheel relative to a selector.

4. The wheel event in accordance with claim 1 wherein said step of initiating a wheel segment selection event comprises spinning a selector relative to said wheel.

5. The wheel event in accordance with claim 1 wherein said step of displaying a wheel comprises displaying a graphical representation of a wheel via an electronic video display.

6. The wheel event in accordance with claim 1 further comprising the steps of presenting a bingo game and, if an outcome of said game is a winning outcome having an associated award, utilizing said wheel event to display said award.

7. A bingo game comprising the steps of:

accepting a bingo card purchase from at least two players;

assigning at least one bingo card bearing numbers or other designations associated therewith to each player;

drawing at least one first set of bingo balls having associated numbers or designations and comparing said bingo balls to said numbers or designations associated with said bingo cards;

determining if said comparing results in at least one designated winning outcome for said bingo game and, if so, awarding an award to said player in accordance with a pay table, said pay table defining awards for winning outcomes of said game; and

presenting a wheel event comprising:

displaying a wheel having an initial number of segments having associated awards, each of said initial segments having an initial size;

initiating a wheel segment selection event;

causing two or more of said segments to merge together, creating one or more combined segments having a size which is greater than said initial size of said two or more segments which were merged and causing said wheel to have a final number of segments less than said initial number of segments;

aggregating awards of merged segments; and

displaying a selected segment from said final number of segments and its associated award.

8. The wheel event in accordance with claim 7 wherein at least one of said wheel segments displays an award having a value which is the same in value as a value of said award awarded to said player as a result of said winning outcome of said bingo game.
