Abstract

A method for detecting a predisposition to breast cancer in a subject is provided. The method includes detecting in a biological sample from the subject one or more polymorphisms in the sequence of CD44 gene. The presence of one or more polymorphisms in the sequence of CD44 gene indicates that the subject has a predisposition for developing breast cancer.

Claims (8)

1. A diagnostic kit for identifying a predisposition to breast cancer in a subject, the diagnostic kit comprising a forward primer SEQ ID NO: 1 and a reverse primer SEQ ID NO: 2 for amplifying at least a region of the CD44 exon2 gene from a biological sample of a subject according to a polymerase chain reaction, and packaging material.

2. The diagnostic kit as in claim 1 , wherein the amplified region of the CD44 exon2 gene comprises Ex2+14 A>G.

3. The diagnostic kit as in claim 1 , wherein the biological sample comprises blood.

4. The diagnostic kit as in claim 1 , wherein the biological sample comprises peripheral blood mononuclear cells.

5. The diagnostic kit as in claim 1 , further comprising a means for sequencing at least the region of the CD44 gene from the biological sample.

6. The diagnostic kit as in claim 5 , wherein the means for sequencing comprises packaging to send the biological sample to be sequenced by a DNA sequencer.

7. The diagnostic kit as in claim 1 , further comprising instructions for performing a visualization method of the breast.

8. The diagnostic kit as in claim 1 , wherein the predisposition is an inherited predisposition.
