Iridium complex with methyl-D3 substitution
Novel organic compounds comprising ligands with deuterium substitution are provided. In particular, the compound is an iridium complex comprising methyl-d 3 substituted ligands. The compounds may be used in organic light emitting devices to provide devices having improved color, efficiency and lifetime.
1. A compound having a structure selected from the group consisting of:
wherein R 1 , R 2 , R 3 , R 4 , R 5 , R 6 , R 7 , R 8 , R 9 , R 10 , and R 11 are independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, alkyl, alkoxy, amino, alkenyl, alkynyl, arylalkyl, aryl, and heteroaryl; and R 1 , R 2 , R 3 , R 4 , R 5 , R 6 , R 7 , R 8 , R 9 , R 10 , and R 11 may be linked;
wherein R 1 , R 2 , R 3 , R 4 , R 5 , R 6 , R 7 , R 8 , R 9 , R 10 and R 11 may be fused; and
wherein at least one of R 1 , R 2 , R 3 , R 4 , R 5 , R 6 , R 7 , R 8 , R 9 , R 10 , and R 11 includes an alkyl group that includes CD, CD 2 , or CD 3 ; and
wherein M is iridium.

an anode;
a cathode; and
an organic layer, disposed between the anode and the cathode, wherein the organic layer comprises a compound having a structure selected from the group consisting of:
wherein R 1 , R 2 , R 3 , R 4 , R 5 , R 6 , R 7 , R 8 , R 9 , R 10 and R 11 are independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, alkyl, alkoxy, amino, alkenyl, alkynyl, arylalkyl, aryl, and heteroaryl; and R 1 , R 2 , R 3 , R 4 , R 5 , R 6 , R 7 , R 8 , R 9 , R 10 , and R 11 may be linked;
wherein R 1 , R 2 , R 3 , R 4 , R 5 , R 6 , R 7 , R 8 , R 9 , R 10 , and R 11 may be fused; and
wherein at least one of R 1 , R 2 , R 3 , R 4 , R 5 , R 6 , R 7 , R 8 , R 9 , R 10 and R 11 includes an alkyl group that includes CD, CD 2 , or CD 3 ; and
wherein M is iridium.
24. The device of claim 23 , wherein the compound is selected from the group consisting of:
