Abstract

In an electrochemical cell including a cathode 7 , an anode 6 , electrolyte 10 , a hollow container 1 accommodating these members, and terminals extending from the inside to the outside of the hollow container 1 , the terminals include a plurality of inner terminals 5 a formed on the inner surface of the hollow container 1 , a cathode outer terminal 5 b 1 formed on the outer surface of the hollow container 1 , and an inner layer wire 5 c formed on the inner layer of the hollow container 1 for commonly connecting the plurality of inner terminals 5 a to the cathode outer terminal 5 b 1.

Claims (20)

1. An electrochemical cell comprising:

a hollow container having an accommodation compartment for accommodating a pair of electrodes and an electrolyte;

terminals including a plurality of inner terminals commonly connected to only one of the pair of electrodes and extending through the hollow container, each of the inner terminals having an upper surface and a lateral surface extending downward from the upper surface, and the inner terminals being made of at least one selected from the group consisting of tungsten, molybdenum, nickel, gold, and a composite of these materials or of an electrically conductive material mainly based on carbon; and

a protective film arranged in the accommodation compartment for covering the plurality of inner terminals,

wherein the hollow container includes a rectangular plate-shaped bottom portion and a rectangular frame-shaped wall portion formed along the periphery of the bottom portion,

wherein the electrolyte is in the form of a liquid or a gel,

wherein the inner terminals extend parallel to one another and are spaced out on an upper surface of the bottom portion of the hollow container thereby providing a space defined by the lateral surfaces of each adjacent two of the inner terminals, and

wherein the protective film covers the upper surface and the lateral surface of each of the inner terminals and fills the spaces between the inner terminals in order to prevent contact between the electrolyte and the inner terminals,

wherein the protective film includes a layer made of a film of pure aluminum, and

wherein the inner terminals have inner terminal portions which directly contact the protective film such that the inner terminal portions are insulated from each other within the hollow container.

2. The electrochemical cell according to claim 1 , wherein the terminals include:

a common outer terminal formed on the outer surface of the hollow container; and

a plurality of wires for commonly connecting the inner terminals to the common outer terminal outside the accommodation compartment,

wherein the plurality of wires are formed between the bottom portion and the wall portion of the hollow container.

3. The electrochemical cell according to claim 2 , wherein the inner terminals are formed by a single layer or a plurality of layers.

4. The electrochemical cell according to claim 2 , wherein the hollow container is made of ceramic containing at least one selected from the group consisting of alumina, silicon nitride, zirconium, silicon carbide, aluminum nitride, mullite, and a composite of these materials.

5. The electrochemical cell according to claim 1 , wherein the inner terminals are formed by a single layer or a plurality of layers.

6. The electrochemical cell according to claim 5 , wherein the hollow container is made of ceramic containing at least one selected from the group consisting of alumina, silicon nitride, zirconium, silicon carbide, aluminum nitride, mullite, and a composite of these materials.

7. The electrochemical cell according to claim 1 , wherein the hollow container is made of ceramic containing at least one selected from the group consisting of alumina, silicon nitride, zirconium, silicon carbide, aluminum nitride, mullite, and a composite of these materials.

8. The electrochemical cell according to claim 1 , wherein the protective film is formed through deposition or sputtering.
