Abstract

A handheld engine-driven cutter is provided with a disk blade and an engine that drives the disk blade, a filter through which air provided to the four-stroke engine passes, a carburetor that mixes fuel and the air that passed through the filter, a casing that houses the filter and the carburetor, at least one operation member that is operated by a user and connected to the carburetor via a link, and a shaft that is connected to the casing and supports the operation member in a swingable manner. A shaft receiving groove that supports the shaft is formed in the casing.

Claims (65)

1. A handheld engine-driven cutter comprising:

a rotating blade having a disc shape;

an engine that drives the rotating blade;

a filter through which air provided to the engine passes;

a carburetor that mixes fuel and the air that passed through the filter;

a easing that houses the filter and the carburetor;

at least one operation member that is operated by a user and connected to the carburetor via a link; and

a shaft that is connected to the casing and supports the operation member in a swingable manner, wherein the shaft is supported by a shaft receiving groove that is formed in the casing, the shaft receiving groove has an open portion along a circumferential region of the shaft, the open portion having a width that is sufficient to allow the shaft to be inserted in the shaft receiving groove by moving the shaft with respect to the shaft receiving groove along the radial direction of the shaft.

2. A handheld engine-driven cutler comprising:

a rotating blade having a disc shape;

an engine that drives the rotating blade;

a filter through which air provided to the engine passes;

a carburetor that mixes fuel and the air that passed through the filter;

a casing that houses the filter and the carburetor;

a filter bracket fixed to the casing and intervened between the filter and the carburetor, the filter bracket guides the air having passed the filter to the carburetor,

at least one operation member that is operated by a user and connected to the carburetor via a link; and

a shaft that is connected to the casing and supports the operation member in a swingable manner,

wherein the shaft is supported by a shaft receiving groove that is formed in the casing, and

wherein the filter bracket includes a shaft holding portion that makes contact with the shaft supported by the shaft receiving groove, and the shaft holding position makes contact with the shaft from a direction towards which the shaft receiving groove opens.

3. A handheld engine-driven cutter comprising:

a rotating blade having a disc shape;

an engine that drives the rotating blade;

a filter through which air provided to the engine passes;

a carburetor that mixes fuel and the air that passed through the filter;

a casing that houses the filter and the carburetor;

at least one operation member that is operated by a user and connected to the carburetor via a link; and

a shaft that is connected to the casing and supports the operation member in a swingable manner,

wherein the shaft is supported by a shaft receiving groove that is formed in the casing, and

wherein the casing includes a pair of shaft position determining portions that faces respective ends of the shaft.

4. A handheld engine-driven cutter comprising:

a rotating blade having a disc shape;

an engine that drives the rotating blade;

a filter through which air provided to the engine passes;

a carburetor that mixes fuel and the air that passed through the filter;

a casing that houses the filter and the carburetor;

at least one operation member that is operated by a user and connected to the carburetor via a link; and

a shaft that is connected to the casing and supports the operation member in a swingable manner,

wherein the shaft is supported by a shaft receiving groove that is formed in the casing, and

wherein a direction towards which the shaft receiving groove opens is a different direction from a direction of force that the shaft receives from the operation member.

5. A handheld engine-driven cutter comprising:

a rotating blade having a disc shape;

an engine that drives the routing blade;

a filter through which air provided to the engine passes;

a carburetor that mixes fuel and the air that passed through the filter;

a casing that houses the filter and the carburetor;

at least one operation member that is operated by a user and connected to the carburetor via a link; and

a shaft that is connected to the casing and supports the operation member in a swingable manner,

wherein the shaft is supported by a shaft receiving groove that is formed in the casing,

wherein the shaft receiving groove is formed within a lengthwise range of a part of the shaft, and

wherein a space is formed around a lengthwise range of another part of the shaft.

6. A handheld engine-driven cutter as in claim 1 , wherein the at least one operation member is composed by at least one of:

a throttle lever connected to a throttle valve of the carburetor, a switch lever connected to a choke valve of the carburetor, and an on-off switch that switches the engine between on and off,

7. A handheld engine-driven cutter as in claim 6 , wherein the at least one operation member includes both a throttle lever and a switch lever, and

the throttle lever and the switch lever are supported coaxially by the shaft.

8. A handheld engine-driven cutter as in claim 3 , wherein the casing includes a pair of shaft position determining portions that faces respective ends of the shaft.

9. A handheld engine-driven cutter as in claim 8 , wherein a direction towards which the shaft receiving groove opens is a different direction from a direction of force that the shaft receives from the operation member.

10. A handheld engine-driven cutter as in claim 9 , wherein the shaft receiving groove is formed within a lengthwise range of a part of the shaft, and

a space is formed around a lengthwise range of another part of the shaft.

11. A handheld engine-driven culler as in claim 10 , wherein the at least one operation member is composed by at least one of:

a throttle lever connected to a throttle valve of the carburetor, a switch lever connected lo a choke valve of the carburetor, and an on-off switch that switches the engine between on and off,

12. A handheld engine-driven cutter as in claim 11 , wherein the at least one operation member includes both a throttle lever and a switch lever, and

the throttle lever and the switch lever are supported coaxially by the shaft.

13. A method of manufacturing a handheld engine-driven, cutter as in claim 1 , the method comprising:

attaching the at least one operation member to the shaft in the swingable manner, and

assembling the shaft to the casing after the attaching by inserting the shaft in the shaft receiving groove by moving the shaft with respect to the shaft receiving groove along the radial direction of the shaft.
