Abstract

A display apparatus includes a plurality of first brackets adhered to the rear panel. A first bracket has a recess on a first surface where an adhesive is applied, and a first protrusion extending from a second surface and a second protrusion extending from the first protrusion. A connection bracket has a side wall and a plurality of first tab portions. The tab portion is provided into an opening of the first protrusion. A second bracket is provided adjacent to the plurality of the first brackets and attached to the connection bracket. A frame is mounted to the at least one second bracket. A light source is provided between the frame and the second bracket.

Claims (38)

1. A display apparatus, comprising:

a display panel including a front substrate and a rear substrate;

a side cover provided adjacent to side of the display panel, wherein the side cover includes a side wall and at least one flange extending from the side wall in at least one of a first direction and a second direction perpendicular to the first direction; and

a back cover disposed in the rear of the display panel, the back cover being connected to the side cover, wherein

the first direction is parallel to a short side of the display panel, and the second direction is parallel to a long side of the display panel,

the back cover includes a first back cover and a second back cover connected to the first back cover,

in the first direction, a length of the first back cover is greater than a length of the second back cover, and

the second back cover includes a first portion overlapping the first back cover in a third direction perpendicular to the first and second directions and a second portion not overlapping the first back cover in the third direction.

2. The display apparatus of claim 1 , wherein a first end of the first back cover is positioned on the side cover, and a second end of the first back cover which opposites from the first end of the first back cover is positioned on the second back cover.

The display apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the first part side wall includes a first end portion and a second end portion which opposites from the first end portion, wherein the side wall comprises a first area between the first end portion and the flange and a second area between the second end portion and the flange,

wherein the first end of the first back cover is positioned at the second area.

4. The display apparatus of claim 3 , further comprising a back light unit disposed on the rear of the display panel,

wherein an end of the display panel and the back light unit are positioned at a portion adjacent to the first area.

5. The display apparatus of claim 4 , wherein the first part side wall of the side cover is spaced from the end of the display panel with a gap.

6. The display apparatus of claim 1 , further comprising a frame provided between the back cover and the display panel,

wherein the back cover includes at least one first hole, the flange includes at least one second hole, and the frame includes at least one third hole, wherein the back cover, the flange of the side cover, and the frame are fastened to one another through a fastening member passing through the first, second, and third holes.

7. The display apparatus of claim 1 , further comprising a connection side cover which extends in the second direction and is provided between and coupled to edges of the side cover.

8. The display apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the first back cover is formed of a metal material, and the second back cover is formed of plastic.

9. The display apparatus of claim 1 , wherein a distance between the second back cover and the display panel in the third direction is greater than a distance between the first back cover and the display panel in the third direction.

10. The display apparatus of claim 1 , further comprising a bottom cover covering a part of a bottom portion of a front surface of the display panel, and a control panel for controlling the display apparatus.

11. The display apparatus of claim 10 , wherein the control panel is a touch screen type.

12. The display apparatus of claim 10 , wherein one of power on/off, changing channels or controlling volumes is controlled by touching a surface of the bottom cover at an area corresponding to the control panel.

13. The display apparatus of claim 1 , further comprising at least one of a bracket adhered to a rear surface of the rear substrate, at least one connection frame, and at least one sheet supporter provided adjacent to the brackets and attached to the at least one connection frame.

The display apparatus of claim 13 , wherein each bracket having a first surface where an adhesive is applied, and a first protrusion extending from a second surface and a second protrusion extending from the first protrusion, the first and second surfaces being opposite surface, the first protrusion having an opening,

wherein the connection frame having a sidewall and a plurality of first tab portions extending from the sidewall, the tab portion being provided into the opening of the of the first protrusion, and

wherein the frame being mounted to the at least one sheet supporter.

The display apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the side wall of the side cover includes first and second external side surfaces extending in the first direction and a third external side surface extending in the second direction, the third external side surface being provided between the first and second external side surfaces.

16. The display apparatus of claim 15 , wherein a first corner where the first and third external side surfaces meet and a second corner where the second and third external side surfaces meet are formed by bending the side wall of the side cover.

17. The display apparatus of claim 16 , wherein the side wall further comprises first and second internal side surfaces which are opposite the first and second external side surfaces, respectively, and a third internal side surface which is opposite to the third external side surface.

The display apparatus of claim 17 , wherein at least one flange comprises a first flange extending from the first internal side surface in the second direction, a second flange extending from the second internal side surface in the second direction, and a third flange extending from the third internal side surface in the first direction.

19. The display apparatus of claim 18 , wherein near a vicinity of the first corner, first edges of the first and third flanges are separated by a first gap, and second edges of the first and third flanges are separated by a second gap.

20. The display apparatus of claim 19 , wherein the first gap is closer to the first corner than the second gap, and the second gap extends along an entire length of the second edges of the first and third flanges.

21. The display apparatus of claim 20 , wherein a width of the first gap in the first direction or the second direction is greater than a width of the second gap in a fourth direction, the fourth direction being perpendicular to at least one edge of the second edges of the first and third flanges.

22. The display apparatus of claim 21 , further comprising a cover member which is attached to the first and third flanges and covers the first gap.

23. The display apparatus of claim 18 , wherein near a vicinity of the second corner, third edges of the second and third flanges are separated by a third gap, and fourth edges of the second and third flanges are separated by a fourth gap.

24. The display apparatus of claim 23 , wherein the third gap is closer to the second corner than the fourth gap, and the fourth gap extends along an entire length of the second edges of the second and third flanges.

The display apparatus of claim 24 , wherein a width of the third gap in the first direction or the second direction is greater than a width of the fourth gap in a fourth direction, the fourth direction being perpendicular to at least one edge of the fourth edges of the second and third flanges.

26. The display apparatus of claim 25 , further comprising a cover member which is attached to the second and third flanges and covers the third gap.
