Abstract

We have disclosed systems and methods for monitoring an individual's athletic performance. Methods may include determining performance parameter data during an athletic activity, determining position parameter data by a global positioning satellite receiver during an athletic activity, correlating the data with a characteristic of a route traversed by an individual during the activity, and generating a graphical display of representation of the route based on the data.

Claims (14)

1. An athletic performance monitoring system, comprising:

a position monitor adapted to determine position data relating to a position of an individual during an athletic activity;

a performance monitor adapted to determine performance data relating to the individual during the athletic activity;

a processor adapted to correlate the position data and the performance data with a characteristic of the athletic activity; and

a display adapted to generate a graphical display based on the performance parameter data and the position parameter data, wherein the graphical display comprises a visual representation of the athletic activity.

2. The system of claim 1 , wherein the position monitor comprises a global positioning satellite receiver.

3. The system of claim 1 , wherein the performance data is one of speed and pace data.

4. The system of claim 1 , wherein the performance data is distance traveled data.

5. The system of claim 1 , wherein the performance data is time elapsed data.

6. The system of claim 1 , wherein the performance data is heart rate data.

7. The system of claim 1 , wherein the athletic activity characteristic is a location along a route traversed during the athletic activity.

8. The system of claim 1 , wherein the athletic activity characteristic is a segment of a route traversed during the athletic activity.

9. The system of claim 1 , wherein the position monitor and the performance monitor are physically separate.

10. The system of claim 1 , wherein the display is adapted to be secured to the individual's body during the athletic activity, and wherein the display is adapted such that the individual may manually change the orientation of the display with respect to the individual's body.
