Abstract

A payment card (e.g., credit and/or debit card) or other device (e.g., mobile telephone) is provided with a magnetic emulator operable to communicate data to a magnetic stripe read-head. Gift cards may be inputted by a user into such a payment card or other device such that a user can combine gift cards. Similarly, a user be provided with a global payment account that can be utilized in multiple countries that have different standards for formatting data. A user may be provided with a default country (e.g., United States) but may have a way to select that the user is in a different country (e.g., Japan). Accordingly, a user may select that a Japanese data structure be transmitted through a magnetic stripe reader when the user is in Japan.

Claims (22)

1. A graphical user interface displayed on a device comprising:

a virtual button operable to link a merchant gift card to a credit card number, wherein a remote server is operable to recognize said merchant gift card is associated with a purchase and utilize said merchant gift card for said purchase.

2. The graphical user interface of claim 1 , further comprising indicia of a merchant associated with said merchant gift card when said virtual button is pressed.

3. The graphical user interface of claim 1 , further comprising indicia of a merchant and a dollar amount associated with said merchant gift card when said virtual button is pressed.

4. The graphical user interface of claim 1 , further comprising indicia of a merchant, a dollar amount and an expiration date associated with said merchant gift card when said virtual button is pressed.

5. The graphical user interface of claim 1 , further comprising a delete function associated with said link when said merchant gift card is utilized.

6. The graphical user interface of claim 1 , further comprising indicia associated with a battery of said device.

7. The graphical user interface of claim 1 , further comprising a second virtual button operable to link a second merchant gift card to said payment card number.

8. A device, comprising:

a display for displaying a graphical user interface, said graphical user interface comprising a virtual button operable to link a merchant gift card to a credit card number, wherein a remote server is operable to recognize said merchant gift card is associated with a purchase and utilize said merchant gift card for said purchase.

9. The device of claim 8 , wherein said graphical user interface further comprises indicia of a merchant associated with said merchant gift card when said virtual button is pressed.

10. The device of claim 8 , wherein said graphical user interface further comprises indicia of a merchant and a dollar amount associated with said merchant gift card when said virtual button is pressed.

11. The device of claim 8 , wherein said graphical user interface further comprises indicia of a merchant, a dollar amount and an expiration date associated with said merchant gift card when said virtual button is pressed.

12. The device of claim 8 , wherein said graphical user interface further comprises a delete function associated with said link when said merchant gift card is utilized.

13. The device of claim 8 , wherein said graphical user interface further comprises indicia associated with a battery of said device.

14. The device of claim 8 , wherein said graphical user interface further comprises a second virtual button operable to link a second merchant gift card to said payment card number.

15. The device of claim 8 , further comprising a battery.

16. The device of claim 8 , further comprising a battery and a processor.

17. The device of claim 8 , further comprising a battery, a processor and an IC chip.

18. The device of claim 8 , wherein said display is a bi-stable display.

19. The device of claim 8 , wherein said display is a non bi-stable display.

20. The device of claim 8 , further comprising a dynamic magnetic communications device.
