Abstract

The display device includes: a flexible display panel including a display portion in which scanning lines and signal lines cross each other; a supporting portion for supporting an end portion of the flexible display panel; a signal line driver circuit for outputting a signal to the signal line, which is provided for the supporting portion; and a scanning line driver circuit for outputting a signal to the scanning line, which is provided for a flexible surface of the display panel in a direction which is perpendicular or substantially perpendicular to the supporting portion.

Claims (100)

1. A display device comprising:

a first plate and a second plate;

a first substrate over the first plate and the second plate, wherein the first substrate has flexibility;

a display portion over the first substrate, wherein the display portion comprises a light-emitting element;

a first driver circuit over the first substrate and overlapping with the first plate; and

a second substrate over the display portion and the first driver circuit, wherein the second substrate has flexibility,

wherein the display portion is bendable between the first plate and the second plate,

wherein the display portion is bendable along a first direction,

wherein the first driver circuit is provided along a second direction perpendicular to the first direction, and

wherein the first plate and the second plate are attached to the same surface of the first substrate.

2. The display device according to claim 1 , wherein the first plate and the second plate are reinforcing plates.

3. The display device according to claim 1 , wherein the first substrate, the display portion, and the second substrate are bendable between the first plate and the second plate.

4. The display device according to claim 1 , wherein a stress concentration region is provided between the first plate and the second plate.

5. The display device according to claim 1 , wherein the first driver circuit does not overlap with a region between the first plate and the second plate.

6. The display device according to claim 1 , wherein the first driver circuit does not overlap with the second plate.

7. The display device according to claim 1 , further comprising a second driver circuit functionally connected to the display portion through a flexible printed circuit.

8. The display device according to claim 1 ,

wherein the first substrate comprises a first cut portion between the first plate and the second plate, and

wherein the second substrate comprises a second cut portion between the first plate and the second plate.

9. The display device according to claim 1 , further comprising:

a third plate over the second substrate and overlapping with the first plate; and

a fourth plate over the second substrate and overlapping with the second plate.

10. The display device according to claim 1 , further comprising a supporting portion at an edge portion of the first substrate along the first direction.

11. A display device comprising:

a first plate and a second plate;

a first substrate over the first plate and the second plate, wherein the first substrate has flexibility;

a display portion over the first substrate, wherein the display portion comprises a light-emitting element;

a first driver circuit over the first substrate and overlapping with the first plate;

a second driver circuit over the first substrate and overlapping with the second plate; and

a second substrate over the display portion, the first driver circuit, and the second driver circuit, wherein the second substrate has flexibility,

wherein the display portion is bendable between the first plate and the second plate,

wherein the display portion is bendable along a first direction,

wherein the first driver circuit and the second driver circuit are provided along a second direction perpendicular to the first direction, and

wherein the first plate and the second plate are attached to the same surface of the first substrate.

12. The display device according to claim 11 , wherein the first plate and the second plate are reinforcing plates.

13. The display device according to claim 11 , wherein the first substrate, the display portion, and the second substrate are bendable between the first plate and the second plate.

14. The display device according to claim 11 , wherein a stress concentration region is provided between the first plate and the second plate.

15. The display device according to claim 11 , wherein the first driver circuit and the second driver circuit do not overlap with a region between the first plate and the second plate.

16. The display device according to claim 11 ,

wherein the first driver circuit does not overlap with the second plate, and

wherein the second driver circuit does not overlap with the first plate.

17. The display device according to claim 11 ,

further comprising a third driver circuit functionally connected to the display portion through a flexible printed circuit.

18. The display device according to claim 11 ,

wherein the first substrate comprises a first cut portion between the first plate and the second plate, and

wherein the second substrate comprises a second cut portion between the first plate and the second plate.

19. The display device according to claim 11 , further comprising:

a third plate over the second substrate and overlapping with the first plate; and

a fourth plate over the second substrate and overlapping with the second plate.

20. The display device according to claim 11 , further comprising a supporting portion at an edge portion of the first substrate along the first direction.

21. A display device comprising:

a first plate and a second plate;

a first substrate over the first plate and the second plate, wherein the first substrate has flexibility;

a display portion over the first substrate, wherein the display portion comprises a light-emitting element;

a first driver circuit over the first substrate and overlapping with the first plate; and

a second substrate over the display portion and the first driver circuit, wherein the second substrate has flexibility,

wherein the display portion is bendable between the first plate and the second plate,

wherein the display portion is bendable along a first direction,

wherein the first driver circuit is provided along a second direction perpendicular to the first direction,

wherein the first plate and the second plate are attached to the same surface of the first substrate,

wherein both of the first driver circuit and the display portion comprises a transistor,

wherein the transistor comprises a semiconductor layer, and

wherein the semiconductor layer comprises indium and zinc.

22. The display device according to claim 21 , wherein the first plate and the second plate are reinforcing plates.

23. The display device according to claim 21 , wherein the first substrate, the display portion, and the second substrate are bendable between the first plate and the second plate.

24. The display device according to claim 21 , wherein a stress concentration region is provided between the first plate and the second plate.

25. The display device according to claim 21 , wherein the first driver circuit does not overlap with a region between the first plate and the second plate.

26. The display device according to claim 21 , wherein the first driver circuit does not overlap with the second plate.

27. The display device according to claim 21 , further comprising a second driver circuit functionally connected to the display portion through a flexible printed circuit.

28. The display device according to claim 21 ,

wherein the first substrate comprises a first cut portion between the first plate and the second plate, and

wherein the second substrate comprises a second cut portion between the first plate and the second plate.

29. The display device according to claim 21 , further comprising:

a third plate over the second substrate and overlapping with the first plate; and

a fourth plate over the second substrate and overlapping with the second plate.

30. The display device according to claim 21 , further comprising a supporting portion at an edge portion of the first substrate along the first direction.

31. The display device according to claim 21 , wherein the semiconductor layer further comprises gallium.

32. A display device comprising:

a first plate and a second plate;

a first substrate over the first plate and the second plate, wherein the first substrate has flexibility;

a display portion over the first substrate, wherein the display portion comprises a light-emitting element;

a first driver circuit over the first substrate and overlapping with the first plate;

a second substrate over the display portion and the first driver circuit, wherein the second substrate has flexibility; and

a third plate and a fourth plate over the second substrate,

wherein the first plate and the second plate are attached to the same surface of the first substrate,

wherein the third plate and the fourth plate are attached to the same surface of the second substrate,

wherein the first plate and the third plate overlap with each other,

wherein the second plate and the fourth plate overlap with each other, and

wherein a first region between the first plate and the second plate and a second region between the third plate and the fourth plate overlap with each other.

33. The display device according to claim 32 , wherein each of the first plate, the second plate, the third plate, and the fourth plate is a reinforcing plate.

34. The display device according to claim 32 ,

wherein a first stress concentration region is provided between the first plate and the second plate, and

wherein a second stress concentration region is provided between the third plate and the fourth plate.

35. The display device according to claim 32 , wherein the first driver circuit does not overlap with the first region and the second region.

36. The display device according to claim 32 , wherein the first driver circuit does not overlap with the second plate and the fourth plate.

37. The display device according to claim 32 , further comprising a second driver circuit, functionally connected to the display portion through a flexible printed circuit.

38. The display device according to claim 32 ,

wherein the first substrate comprises a first cut portion between the first plate and the second plate, and

wherein the second substrate comprises a second cut portion between the third plate and the fourth plate.

39. The display device according to claim 32 , further comprising a supporting portion at an edge portion of the first substrate.
