Abstract

Described herein are platinum and palladium compounds with geometrically distorted charge transfer state, applications and methods for the preparation thereof. The platinum and/or palladium compounds described herein are capable of emitting light and can be used in light emitting devices.

Claims (8)

1. The compound represented by the formula:

wherein M is platinum or palladium.

2. The compound of claim 1 , comprising an emitting component having the structure:

3. A light emitting device comprising the compound of claim 1 .

4. An OLED device comprising the compound of claim 1 .

5. The OLED device of claim 4 , wherein the OLED device is a phosphorescent OLED device.

6. A photovoltaic device comprising the compound of claim 1 .

7. A luminescent display device comprising the compound of claim 1 .
