Abstract

This disclosure describes systems and methods related to content management in a cloud-enabled network-based digital video recorder. In some embodiments, a request to view a listing of content assets associated with a user account may be received from a user device. One or more content assets associated with the user account may be identified. The listing of content assets may be generated based at least in part on the identified one or more content assets. The listing of assets may be transmitted to the user device.

Claims (58)

1. A computer-implemented method comprising:

receiving, by a network-based video recording (nDVR) system comprising one or more computers from a user device, a request to view a listing of content assets associated with a user account, wherein the user account is associated with a multi-user account;

identifying, by the nDVR system, one or more content assets associated with the user account, wherein the one or more content assets associated with the user account comprise account-level content and user-level content;

generating, by the nDVR system, the listing of content assets based at least in part on the identified one or more content assets;

transmitting, by the nDVR system, the listing of content assets to the user device;

receiving, by the nDVR system from a first user via the user device, a request to modify a content asset, wherein the request comprises first information associated with modifying the content asset;

modifying, by the nDVR system, the content asset based at least in part on the first information;

generating, by the nDVR system, a template file comprising second information associated with a source of the content asset and a segment time associated with the modification of the content asset enabling a second user to recreate one or more original segments of the content asset; and

storing, by the nDVR system, the one or more original segments in association with the modified content asset.

2. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , further comprising:

identifying, by the nDVR system, a respective state associated with each of the one or more content assets; and

generating, by the nDVR system, the listing of content assets based at least in part on the identified respective state associated with each of the one or more content assets.

3. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein the listing of content assets includes a list of content assets marked for deletion and available for undeletion.

4. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , further comprising:

receiving, by the nDVR system from the user device, a plurality of content assets selected by a user from the list of content assets; and

generating, by the nDVR system, a smart list based at least in part on the plurality of content assets.

5. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , further comprising:

receiving, by the nDVR system from the user device, a request to archive the one or more content assets, wherein the request includes a selection of at least one content asset from the list of content assets and a personal archive medium; and

converting, by the nDVR system, the at least one content asset based at least in part on the personal archive medium.

6. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , further comprising:

transmitting, by the nDVR system, one or more data streams to the user device;

receiving, by the nDVR system, a time stamp associated with a portion of the one or more data streams;

generating, by the nDVR system, a record associated with the portion of the one or more data streams based at least in part on the time stamp associated with the portion of the one or more data streams; and

storing, by the nDVR system, the record in association with the one or more data streams.

7. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , further comprising:

transmitting, by the nDVR system, the template file from the first user to the second user.

8. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein the listing of content assets further includes guide data associated with the identified one or more content assets.

9. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein the at least one processor is further configured to adjust a quota associated with the user account based at least in part on quota information.

10. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein the user account is permitted to designate one or more account-levels and one or more user-levels associated with one or more other users associated with the multi-user account.

11. A system comprising:

at least one memory operable to store computer-executable instructions; and

at least one processor configured to access the at least one memory and to execute the computer-executable instructions to:

receive, from a user device, a request to view a listing of content assets associated with a user account, wherein the user account is associated with a multi-user account, the multi-user account associated with a networked-based video recording (nDVR) system;

identify one or more content assets associated with the user account, wherein the one or more content assets associated with the user account comprise account-level content and user-level content;

generate the listing of content assets based at least in part on the identified one or more content assets;

transmit the listing of content assets to the user device;

receive, from a first user via the user device, a request to modify a content asset, wherein the request comprises first information associated with modifying the content asset;

modify the content asset based at least in part on the first information;

generate a template file comprising second information associated with a source of the content asset and a segment time associated with the modification of the content asset enabling a second user to recreate one or more original segments of the content asset; and

store the one or more original segments in association with the modified content asset.

12. The system of claim 11 , wherein the at least one processor is further configured to execute the computer-executable instructions to:

identify a respective state associated with each of the one or more content assets; and

generate the listing of content assets based at least in part on the identified respective state associated with each of the one or more content assets.

13. The system of claim 11 , wherein the listing of content assets includes a list of content assets marked for deletion and available for undeletion.

14. The system of claim 11 , wherein the at least one processor is further configured to execute the computer-executable instructions to:

receive, from the user device, a plurality of content assets selected by a user from the list of content assets; and

generate a smart list based at least in part on the plurality of content assets.

15. The system of claim 11 , wherein the at least one processor is further configured to execute the computer-executable instructions to:

receive, from the user device, a request to archive the one or more content assets, wherein the request includes a selection of at least one content asset from the list of content assets and a personal archive medium; and

convert the at least one content asset based at least in part on the personal archive medium.

16. The system of claim 11 , wherein the at least one processor is further configured to execute the computer-executable instructions to:

transmit one or more data streams to the user device;

receive a time stamp associated with a portion of the one or more data streams;

generate a record associated with the portion of the one or more data streams based at least in part on the time stamp associated with the portion of the one or more data streams; and

store the record in association with the one or more data streams.

17. The system of claim 11 , wherein the user is a first user and wherein the at least one processor is further configured to execute the computer-executable instructions to:

transmit the template file from the first user to a second user.

18. The system of claim 11 , wherein the listing of content assets further includes guide data associated with the identified one or more content assets.
