Abstract

A blister and package system made of a blister card and an outer package with unique interacting locking mechanisms. The blister card or strip is inserted into the outer package or sleeve and locks immediately without having to further process the outer package or the blister card or strip. The user is able to expose the blisters from the outer package by disengaging the lock. The blister card or strip includes a formable, pliable sheet material, into which one or more individual cavities or blisters are formed. The separated cavities are loaded with product and sealed with one or more layers of puncturable or tearable sheet material, such as aluminum foil. The blister card or strip contains a plastic rivet assembly that forms an interference mechanism. The rivet is trapped by an internally formed panel and stopped by a catch flap included in the outer package.

a left panel connected to said inside panel along a first common edge;

a top right panel connected to said inside panel along a second common edge;

a locking ramp connected to said inside panel along a third common edge;

a left folding panel connecting said bottom panel to said top panel;

a bottom right panel connected to said bottom panel along a fourth common edge;

a top rear panel connected to said bottom panel along a fifth common edge;

a top rear flap connected to said top rear panel along a sixth common edge;

a right folding panel connecting a top printing panel to said bottom panel;

wherein said left panel, said inside panel, said inside folding panel, said top panel, said left folding panel, said bottom panel, and said right folding panel, when folded, form a sleeve having an opening;

wherein said inside panel comprises a rectangular cut-out on said third common edge;

wherein said sleeve is adapted to receive an insert slidable therein along a sliding direction normal to said cross-section; and

wherein said rectangular cutout forms a lip on the inside panel to receive a locking member of said insert when said insert is positioned within said sleeve.

2. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein said locking member is adapted to engage said lip in a first locked position.

3. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein said locking ramp is adapted to engage a back end of said insert.

4. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein said top right panel comprises a latch adapted to prevent said insert from sliding out of contact with said sleeve.

5. The apparatus of claim 1 , further comprising a button portion provided in said bottom panel and adapted to release said locking member upon application of a force thereto.

6. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein said left panel is coupled to an interior surface of said left folding panel.

7. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein said inside folding panel is coupled to an interior surface of said right folding panel.

8. The apparatus of claim 1 , further comprises a tab on a left edge of said left folding panel and a tab on a left edge of said right folding panel.

9. The apparatus of claim 8 , wherein said top rear panel is coupled to said left folding panel tab and right folding panel tab and said top rear panel flap is coupled to an interior surface of said top panel to form a back wall of said sleeve.

10. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein said insert is at least one blister package.

11. A child-resistant packaging apparatus comprising:

an inside panel, a bottom panel, and an inside folding panel connecting a top panel to said inside panel;

a left panel connected to said inside panel along a first common edge;

a top right panel connected to said inside panel along a second common edge;

a locking ramp connected to said inside panel along a third common edge;

a left folding panel connecting said bottom panel to said top panel;

a bottom right panel connected to said bottom panel along a fourth common edge;

a top rear panel connected to said bottom panel along a fifth common edge;

a top rear flap connected to said top rear panel along a sixth common edge;

a right folding panel connecting a top printing panel to said bottom panel;

wherein said left panel, said inside panel, said inside folding panel, said top panel, said left folding panel, said bottom panel, and said right folding panel, when folded, form a sleeve having an opening and a substantially rectangular cross-section;

wherein said inside panel comprises a rectangular cut-out on said third common edge;

wherein said sleeve is adapted to receive an insert slidable therein along a sliding direction normal to said substantially rectangular cross-section; and

wherein said rectangular cutout forms a lip on the inside panel to receive a locking member of said insert when said insert is positioned within said sleeve.

12. The apparatus of claim 11 , wherein said locking member is adapted to engage said lip in a first locked position.

13. The apparatus of claim 11 , wherein said locking ramp is adapted to engage a back end of said insert.

14. The apparatus of claim 11 , wherein said top right panel comprises a latch adapted to prevent said insert from sliding out of contact with said sleeve.

15. The apparatus of claim 11 , further comprising a button portion provided in said bottom panel and adapted to release said locking member upon application of a force thereto.

16. The apparatus of claim 11 , wherein said left panel is coupled to an interior surface of said left folding panel.

17. The apparatus of claim 11 , wherein said inside folding panel is coupled to an interior surface of said right folding panel.

18. The apparatus of claim 11 , further comprises a tab on a left edge of said left folding panel and a tab on a left edge of said right folding panel.

19. The apparatus of claim 18 , wherein said top rear panel is coupled to said left folding panel tab and right folding panel tab and said top rear panel flap is coupled to an interior surface of said top panel to form a back wall of said sleeve.
