Abstract

A system for enabling securing devices configured to hold fuels, such as gas cylinders, to frames is provided. The system includes an isolator fastened to the device configured to hold fuel and a strap that is attached to the frame. The isolator includes barriers on either side that prevent longitudinal slipping of the strap and ridges disposed between the barriers, which create cushioning between the strap and the device configured to hold fuel.

Claims (29)

1. A fuel-holding device comprising:

a tank body; and

an isolator disposed circumferentially around the tank body of the fuel-holding device, wherein the isolator comprises (1) a central portion comprising ridges and configured to receive a strap disposed over the central portion and (2) a pair of flaps on opposing sides the central portion; and

strand-based covers that wrap around the tank body and at least a portion of the each of the flaps in the pair of flaps without covering the central portion.

2. The device of claim 1 , wherein the isolator further comprises a pair of barriers extending radially from the isolator.

3. The device of claim 2 , wherein the flaps are adjacent to the barriers.

4. The device of claim 1 , wherein the strand-based covers include fabric, mat, or netting.

5. The device of claim 2 , further comprising a strap located around the isolator between the pair of barriers.

6. The device of claim 1 , wherein the isolator is formed of an elastomeric material.

7. The device of claim 1 , wherein the isolator and the strand-based covers are secured to the tank body with aid of an adhesive.

8. A system for securing a fuel-holding device to a frame, comprising:

an isolator fastened to the fuel-holding device; and

a strap disposed around the circumference of the isolator, wherein the strap is attached to the frame;

wherein the isolator comprises

i) a pair of barriers;

ii) ridges disposed between the barriers; and

iii) a pair of flaps on opposing sides of the pair of barriers, and

wherein the strap and the isolator secure the fuel holding device to the frame.

9. The system of claim 8 , further comprising strand-based covers that wrap around at least a portion of the fuel-holding device and each of the flaps in the pair of flaps.

10. The system of claim 9 , wherein the strand-based covers include fabric, mat, or netting.

11. The system of claim 8 , wherein the isolator is fastened to the fuel-holding device with aid of an adhesive.

12. The system of claim 8 , wherein the fuel-holding device contains a gaseous fuel therein.

13. The system of claim 12 , wherein the frame is mounted on a vehicle and the gaseous fuel within the fuel-holding device aids in the operation of the vehicle.

14. A method of mounting a fuel-holding device comprising:

providing at least one isolator around a tank body of the fuel-holding device, wherein the isolator comprises (1) a central portion comprising ridges and configured to receive a strap disposed over the central portion and (2) a pair of flaps on opposing sides of the central portion; and

covering the tank body and at least a portion of each flap in the pair of flaps without covering the central portion with a strand-based cover, thereby securing the isolator to the tank body to mount the fuel-holding device.

15. The method of claim 14 , wherein covering the tank body and the portion of each of the flaps in the pair of flaps without covering the central portion includes winding strands around the tank body and the pair of flaps without winding the strands around the central portion.

16. The system of claim 14 , wherein the isolator is formed from an elastomeric material and includes a pair of barriers on opposite sides of the central portion.

17. The system of claim 16 , further comprising accepting a strap attached to a frame between said barriers, wherein the central portion of the isolator between said barriers includes the ridges.
