Abstract

A mobile communication terminal including an antenna for receiving broadcasting waves of television broadcasting and being capable of detecting its own current location and an azimuth direction is provided, the mobile communication terminal including a broadcasting station location retaining unit configured to retain location information of a broadcasting station that transmits the broadcasting waves, a best azimuth direction calculating unit configured to, using the detected azimuth direction, calculate a best azimuth direction in which the mobile communication terminal can receive the broadcasting waves the best, an azimuth direction displaying unit configured to display a location of the broadcasting station and the best azimuth direction in the detected current location, and an azimuth direction display updating unit configured to update as needed the display by the azimuth direction displaying unit in accordance with a change of the azimuth direction of the mobile communication terminal.

Claims (24)

1. A mobile communication terminal including an antenna for receiving broadcasting waves of television broadcasting and being capable of detecting its own current location and an azimuth direction, the mobile communication terminal comprising:

circuitry configured to

retain location information of a broadcasting station that transmits the broadcasting waves;

calculate, using the detected azimuth direction, a best azimuth direction in which the mobile communication terminal can receive the broadcasting waves the best; and

a display configured to display the location of the broadcasting station and the best azimuth direction in the detected current location, wherein

the circuitry is configured to control the display to update, as needed, the displayed best azimuth direction in accordance with a change of the azimuth direction of the mobile communication terminal; and

the display is configured to display, simultaneously with the location of the broadcasting station and the best azimuth direction in the detected current location, guidance on how to hold the mobile communication terminal and a way to position the antenna so that a reception status of the broadcasting waves becomes the best.

2. The mobile communication terminal as claimed in claim 1 , wherein

the display is configured to display a reception level of the broadcasting waves, and

the circuitry is configured to control outputting an instruction to a user to match the displayed best azimuth direction with a direction from the current location to the location of the broadcasting station, wherein the instruction to the user is output in the case where the reception level is less than a predefined threshold value.

3. The mobile communication terminal as claimed in claim 2 , wherein:

the display is configured to display the reception level simultaneously with the location of the broadcasting station and the best azimuth direction in the detected current location; and

the circuitry is configured to control the display to update the displayed reception level in accordance with a change of the reception level.

4. The mobile communication terminal as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the location of the broadcasting station and the best azimuth direction in the detected current location are displayed on a map.

5. A mobile communication method to be implemented by a mobile communication terminal including an antenna for receiving broadcasting waves of television broadcasting and being capable of detecting its own current location and an azimuth direction, the mobile communication method comprising:

a best azimuth direction calculating step of, using the detected azimuth direction, calculating a best azimuth direction in which the mobile communication terminal can receive the broadcasting waves the best;

an azimuth direction displaying step of displaying a pre-retained location of a broadcasting station that transmits the broadcasting waves and of the best azimuth direction in the detected current location;

an azimuth direction display updating step of updating the display as needed in accordance with a change of the azimuth direction of the mobile communication terminal; and

a how-to-hold displaying step of displaying, simultaneously with the displaying in the azimuth direction displaying step, guidance on how to hold the mobile communication terminal and a way to position the antenna so that a reception status of the broadcasting waves becomes the best.

6. A computer-readable non-transitory recording medium having a mobile communication program to be implemented by a mobile communication terminal including an antenna for receiving broadcasting waves of television broadcasting and being capable of detecting its own location and an azimuth direction embodied therein causing a computer to execute:

a best azimuth direction calculating step of, using the detected azimuth direction, calculating a best azimuth direction in which the mobile communication terminal can receive the broadcasting waves the best;

an azimuth direction displaying step of displaying a pre-retained locating of a broadcasting station that transmits the broadcasting waves and of the best azimuth direction in the detected current location;

an azimuth direction display updating step of updating the display as needed in accordance with a change of the azimuth direction of the mobile communication terminal; and

a how-to-hold displaying step of displaying, simultaneously with the displaying in the azimuth direction displaying step, guidance on how to hold the mobile communication terminal and a way to position the antenna so that a reception status of the broadcasting waves becomes the best.
