Abstract

A plastic arch-shape cross section corrugated stormwater chamber has a multiplicity of crest corrugations and valley corrugations which run transverse to its length. Sub-corrugations run along part or all of the arch-curve lengths of either crest corrugations or valley corrugations, or along both of them. A sub-corrugations are smaller in dimension than an associated crest corrugation or valley corrugation. Sub-corrugations may taper in width and depth and may taper to nothingness. A compound convex shape end cap, useful for closing off the ends of stormwater chambers, has substantially vertical corrugations with analogous sub-corrugations.

Claims (36)

1. A chamber, for drainage, comprising:

opposing side bases;

a chamber top;

sidewalls extending from the opposing side bases to the chamber top;

a plurality of crest corrugations and a plurality of valley corrugations positioned along a length of the chamber; and

a plurality of crest sub-corrugations, wherein each crest sub-corrugation runs upwardly from an opposing side base and along a portion of a crest corrugation, wherein each crest sub-corrugation terminates at an elevation lower than the chamber top, wherein a height of each crest sub-corrugation decreases with increasing elevation from the opposing side base.

2. The chamber of claim 1 , wherein the height of each crest sub-corrugation is less than a local height of the crest corrugation along which the crest sub-corrugation runs.

3. The chamber of claim 1 , wherein each crest sub-corrugation includes a width that diminishes with increasing elevation from the opposing side base.

4. The chamber of claim 1 , further comprising a plurality of valley sub-corrugations, wherein each valley sub-corrugation runs along a valley corrugation, wherein each valley sub-corrugation runs downwardly from the chamber top toward the opposing side bases.

5. The chamber of claim 4 , wherein a height of each valley sub-corrugation decreases as the valley sub-corrugation approaches the opposing side bases.

6. The chamber of claim 5 , wherein the height of each valley sub-corrugation is less than a depth of the valley corrugation along which the valley sub-corrugation runs.

7. The chamber of claim 4 , wherein a width of each valley sub-corrugation decreases as the valley sub-corrugation approaches the opposing side bases.

8. The chamber of claim 4 , wherein a width of each valley sub-corrugation is constant.

9. The chamber of claim 4 , wherein each valley sub-corrugation includes terminal ends at an elevation lower than the chamber top.

10. The chamber of claim 4 , wherein each crest sub-corrugation includes a terminal end and each valley sub-corrugation includes terminal ends, wherein the terminal ends of the crest sub-corrugations are higher in elevation from the opposing side bases than the terminal ends of the valley sub-corrugations.

11. The chamber of claim 4 , wherein each valley sub-corrugation terminates at an elevation above the opposing side bases.

12. The chamber of claim 1 , the valley corrugations increase in width with elevation from the opposing side bases.

13. The chamber of claim 1 , wherein the crest corrugations decrease in width with elevation from the opposing side bases.

14. A chamber, for drainage, comprising:

opposing side bases;

a chamber top;

sidewalls extending from the opposing side bases to the chamber top;

a plurality of crest corrugations and a plurality of valley corrugations positioned along a length of the chamber; and

a plurality of crest sub-corrugations, wherein each crest sub-corrugation runs upwardly from an opposing side base and along a portion of a crest corrugation, wherein each crest sub-corrugation terminates at an elevation lower than the chamber top, wherein each crest sub-corrugation includes a width that diminishes with increasing elevation from the opposing side base.

15. The chamber of claim 14 , further comprising a plurality of valley sub-corrugations, wherein each valley sub-corrugation runs along a valley corrugation, wherein each valley sub-corrugation runs downwardly from the chamber top toward the opposing side bases.

16. The chamber of claim 15 , wherein a height of each valley sub-corrugation decreases as the valley sub-corrugation approaches the opposing side bases.

17. The chamber of claim 15 , wherein each valley sub-corrugation terminates at an elevation above the opposing side bases.

18. A chamber, for drainage, comprising:

opposing side bases;

a chamber top;

sidewalls extending from the opposing side bases to the chamber top;

a plurality of crest corrugations and a plurality of valley corrugations positioned along a length of the chamber;

a plurality of crest sub-corrugations, wherein each crest sub-corrugation runs upwardly from an opposing side base and along a portion of a crest corrugation; and

a plurality of valley sub-corrugations, wherein each valley sub-corrugation runs along a valley corrugation, wherein each valley sub-corrugation runs downwardly from the chamber top toward the opposing side bases, wherein each valley sub-corrugation includes terminal ends at an elevation lower than the chamber top and above the opposing side bases.

19. The chamber of claim 18 , wherein each crest sub-corrugation includes a terminal end, wherein the terminal ends of the crest sub-corrugations are higher in elevation from the opposing side bases than the terminal ends of the valley sub-corrugations.

20. The chamber of claim 18 , wherein each crest sub-corrugation includes a width that diminishes with increasing elevation from the opposing side base.
