Abstract

Methods, systems, and products enable a healthcare facility or server to process incoming communications. When a communication is received, the time and a recipient's address may be compared to a schedule of procedures. The recipient's address may be associated with a patient or with medical personnel, such as a physician or nurse. If the time and the recipient's address match an entry in the schedule of procedures, then an alternate destination may be chosen for the communication.

Claims (42)

1. A method, comprising:

receiving, by a processor, a recipient communications address associated with a communication;

querying, by the processor, an electronic database for the recipient communications address, the electronic database having electronic associations between different location data and different communications addresses including the recipient communications address;

retrieving, from the electronic database, global positioning system information having an electronic association with the recipient communications address;

querying, by the processor, an electronic hospital map for the global positioning system information associated with the recipient communications address;

retrieving, from a memory, a surgery schedule associated with the recipient communications address;

determining, by the processor, the global positioning system information maps to a surgical room in which the surgery schedule indicates a surgery is scheduled at a time of receipt associated with the communication; and

selecting, by the processor in response to the surgery, an alternate destination address to the recipient communications address.

2. The method of claim 1 , further comprising determining an unavailable status in response to the global positioning system information.

3. The method of claim 1 , further comprising determining a network configuration associated with a wireless network associated with the recipient communications address.

4. The method of claim 3 , further comprising determining the surgical room from the network configuration associated with the wireless network.

5. The method of claim 1 , further comprising determining a network configuration associated with a wireless network of a patient associated with the recipient communications address.

6. The method of claim 1 , further comprising retrieving patient data associated with the surgery.

7. The method of claim 1 , further comprising retrieving a messaging option associated with the surgery.

8. A system, comprising:

a processor; and

a memory storing code that when executed causes the processor to perform operations, the operations comprising:

receiving a recipient's communications address as a destination of a communication;

querying an electronic database for the recipient's communications address, the electronic database having electronic associations between different location data and different communications addresses including the recipient's communications address;

retrieving global positioning system information having an electronic association with the recipient's communications address;

querying an electronic hospital map for the global positioning system information associated with the recipient's communications address;

retrieving a surgery schedule associated with the recipient's communications address;

determining the global positioning system information maps to a surgical room in which the surgery schedule indicates a surgery is scheduled at a time of receipt associated with the communication; and

routing the communication to an alternate destination address in response to the global positioning system information.

9. The system of claim 8 , wherein the operations further comprise determining an unavailable status in response to the surgery.

10. The system of claim 8 , wherein the operations further comprise determining a network configuration associated with a wireless network associated with the recipient's communications address.

11. The system of claim 10 , wherein the operations further comprise determining the surgical room from the network configuration associated with the wireless network.

12. The system of claim 8 , wherein the operations further comprise determining a location of a patient associated with the recipient's communications address.

13. The system of claim 8 , wherein the operations further comprise retrieving patient data associated with the surgery.

14. The system of claim 8 , wherein the operations further comprise retrieving a messaging option associated with the surgery.

15. A memory device storing instructions that when executed cause a processor to perform operations, the operations comprising:

receiving a destination communications address associated with a communication;

determining an availability to a wireless network providing wireless service to a wireless device associated with the recipient's communications address;

determining a location associated with the wireless service provided by the wireless network;

retrieving a surgery schedule associated with the destination communications address;

determining the location associated with the wireless service maps to a surgical room in which the surgery schedule indicates a surgery is scheduled at a time of receipt associated with the communication; and

routing the communication to an alternate destination address in response to the location associated with the wireless service.

16. The memory device of claim 15 , wherein the operations further comprise determining an unavailable status in response to the location associated with the wireless service.

17. The memory device of claim 15 , wherein the operations further comprise querying an electronic database for the recipient's communications address, the electronic database having electronic associations between different global positioning system information and different communications addresses including the recipient's communications address.

18. The memory device of claim 15 , wherein the operations further comprise retrieving global positioning system information having an electronic association with the recipient's communications address.

19. The memory device of claim 18 , wherein the operations further comprise querying an electronic hospital map for the global positioning system information associated with the recipient's communications address.

20. The memory device of claim 15 , wherein the operations further comprise retrieving patient data associated with the surgery.
