Abstract

Devices and methods for infusing liquids and/or brewing beverages are described. The present invention relates to an apparatus for brewing beverages comprising a vessel, said vessel comprising a sealable chamber for holding a brewing material and a liquid, and a filter assembly connected to the sealable chamber; a liquid supply and conduit for introducing at least a portion of said liquid supply into said sealable chamber; and a vacuum source and conduit for reducing pressure in said sealable chamber.

Claims (13)

1. An apparatus for brewing beverages comprising:

a vessel, said vessel comprising:

a sealable chamber for holding a brewing material and a liquid, and a filter assembly connected to the sealable chamber;

a liquid supply and conduit for introducing at least a portion of said liquid supply into said sealable chamber;

a vacuum source and conduit for reducing pressure in said sealable chamber; and

a heat source for heating the liquid supply after introduction of the liquid to the sealable chamber.

2. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein a lower portion of the sealable chamber is removably attached to an upper portion of the sealable chamber, and the filter assembly is connected to the lower portion of the sealable chamber.

3. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein said filter assembly comprises a filter mechanism and a port through which said liquid can be removed from the sealable chamber.

4. The apparatus of claim 3 , wherein said filter assembly further comprises a valve.

5. The apparatus of claim 3 , wherein said filter mechanism comprises a metal mesh.

6. The apparatus of claim 3 , wherein said filter mechanism comprises filter paper.

7. The apparatus of claim 1 , further comprising a heat source for heating the liquid supply prior to introduction to the sealable chamber.

8. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the vacuum source comprises a venturi pump.
