Abstract

A device for pollinating plants such as flowering trees. The device is a movable platform such as a drone that has an image capturing device that is in communication with image recognition software. Images of plants are analyzed to detect objects that are consistent with pollen-receiving plants and/or plant areas. Once such plant object is detected, the device automatically disperses pollen in the proximity of the detected plant or plant object.

Claims (18)

1. A device for detecting plant objects, comprising:

a movable platform;

an image capturing device disposed on the movable platform;

an image recognition system in communication with the image capturing device, the image recognition system being trained to recognize a characteristic of a plant that is adapted to receive pollen;

a storage reservoir storing pollen therein;

an action head adapted to disperse pollen;

software configured to detect a presence of a plant that is adapted to receive pollen and to cause the action head to disperse pollen in the proximity of said plant.

2. The device of claim 1 , whereby the movable platform is a drone.

3. The device of claim 2 , whereby the software is configured to navigate the drone toward a plant when a plant object of interest is detected.

4. The device of claim 2 , further comprising a movable arm whereby the action head is mounted on the movable arm.

5. The device of claim 2 , whereby the drone is remotely controlled by an operator.

6. The device of claim 2 , whereby the drone is autonomously controlled according to pre-programmed rules.

7. The device of claim 1 , where the movable platform is an aircraft.

8. The device of claim 1 , whereby the movable platform is a dirigible.

9. The device of claim 1 , further comprising software configured to control movement of the movable platform.

10. The device of claim 1 , whereby the characteristic of a plant that is adapted to receive pollen is a flower.

11. The device of claim 1 , whereby the characteristic of a plant that is adapted to receive pollen is pistil.

12. The device of claim 1 , whereby the plant that is adapted to receive pollen is a tree.
