Abstract

An authentication method requires receiving an order from a server to perform an act which is then verified by the server for liveness. The act may comprise shining a color on an object such as the face of the user, holding a flash at a particular location or a combination of these and other similar acts.

Claims (12)

1. A method, comprising:

transmitting to a server from a device an authentication request of a user;

receiving from the server an instruction for the user to perform an act that involves relative movement between the user and a camera;

observing the user performing the act, wherein a plurality of fiducial marks are captured before and after the relative movement requested;

real-time transmitting information pertaining to the act to the server, wherein the plurality of fiducial marks are transmitted to the server that determines whether the requested relative movement was conducted; and

the device receiving from the server an authorization if the real-time transmission verifies a liveness of the relative movement.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein verification of the liveness of the relative movement comprises a determination that a particular color was illuminated by the user.

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein verification of the liveness of the relative movement comprises a determination that the user caused a flash at a particular location.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein verification of the liveness of the relative movement comprises a determination that the user caused a particular gesture.

5. The method of claim 1 , wherein verification of the liveness of the relative movement comprises a determination that the user caused a flash at a particular angle relative to the observer.

6. The method of claim 1 , wherein verification of the liveness of the relative movement comprises a determination that the user caused a flash at a particular angle relative to the user.

7. The method of claim 1 , wherein verification of the liveness of the relative movement comprises a determination that the user caused a flash, at the same time as a gesture, and at a particular location.
