Abstract

The present invention is a method for controlling re-direction between heterogeneous mobile communication systems, comprising a step in which a terminal, a connection request of which is rejected from a first communication system (UTRAN), receives, from a second communication system to which the terminal intends to connect, information indicating that the second communication system does not support the terminal; a step of setting information for preventing re-direction to the second communication system; and a step of transmitting, to the first communication system, a request for connection to the first communication system, which includes the information.

Claims (49)

1. A method by a mobile management entity (MME), the method comprising:

receiving, from a terminal, a request message for tracking area updating;

identifying whether a radio access technology (RAT) for the request message is allowed to the terminal in a public land mobile network (PLMN) associated with the request message;

if the RAT is not allowed to the terminal, generating information indicating that the RAT is not allowed to the terminal; and

transmitting, to the terminal, a response message comprising the information in response to the request message,

wherein a RAT capability corresponding to the RAT is disabled based on the information at the terminal, and

wherein if a PLMN selection is required, the RAT capability is enabled at the terminal.

2. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

if an attach request message for the RAT is received from the terminal, identifying whether the RAT is allowed to the terminal in the PLMN; and

if the RAT is not allowed to the terminal, transmitting, to the terminal, a reject message comprising the information in response to the attach request message, wherein the RAT capability is disabled based on the information at the terminal.

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the RAT is configured for use in an evolved universal terrestrial radio access network (E-UTRAN).

4. The method of claim 1 , after the RAT capability at the terminal is disabled based on the information, if the terminal is powered off and is powered on, or a subscriber identity module of the terminal is removed, the RAT capability at the terminal is enabled.

5. A method by a terminal, the method comprising:

transmitting to a mobile management entity (MME), a request message for tracking area updating;

receiving, from the MME, a response message in response to the request message;

identifying that the response message includes information indicating that a radio access technology (RAT) for the request message is not allowed to the terminal in a public land mobile network (PLMN) associated with the request message;

disabling a RAT capability corresponding to the RAT; and

if PLMN selection is required, enabling the RAT capability.

6. The method of claim 5 , further comprising:

transmitting, to the MME, an attach request message for the RAT, and

if a reject message comprising the information, is received in response to the attach request message, disabling the RAT capability.

7. The method of claim 5 , further comprising:

selecting another RAT in the PLMN.

8. The method of claim 5 , further comprising:

after disabling of the RAT capability, if the terminal is powered off and powered on again, or an subscriber identity module of the terminal is removed, enabling the RAT capability again.

9. The method of claim 5 , wherein the RAT is configured for use in an evolved universal terrestrial radio access network (E-UTRAN).

10. A mobile management entity (MME) comprising:

a receiver configured to receive, from a terminal, a request message for tracking area updating;

a controller configured to identify whether a radio access technology (RAT) for the request message is allowed to the terminal in a public land mobile network (PLMN) associated with the request message; if the RAT is not allowed to the terminal, include information indicating that the RAT is not allowed to the terminal; and

a transmitter configured to transmit, to the terminal, a response message comprising the information in response to the request message, wherein a RAT capability corresponding to the RAT is disabled based on the information at the terminal, and

wherein if a PLMN selection is required, the RAT capability is enabled at the terminal.

11. The MME of claim 10 , further comprising:

if an attach request message for the RAT is received from the terminal, the controller is configured to identify whether the RAT is allowed to the terminal in the PLMN; and

if the RAT is not allowed to the terminal, the controller is configured to control the transmitter to transmit, to the terminal, a reject message comprising the information in response to the attach request message, wherein the RAT capability is disabled based on the information at the terminal.

12. The MME of claim 10 , wherein the RAT is configured for use in an evolved universal terrestrial radio access network (E-UTRAN).

13. The MME of claim 10 , after the RAT capability at the terminal is disabled based on the information, if the terminal is powered off and is powered on, or a subscriber identity module of the UE is removed, the RAT capability at the terminal is enabled.

14. A terminal comprising:

a transceiver configured to transmit to a mobile management entity (MME), a request message for tracking area updating, and receive, from the MME, a response message in response to the request message; and

a controller configured to

identify that the response message includes information indicating that a radio access technology (RAT) for the request message is not allowed to the terminal in a public land mobile network (PLMN) associated with the request message,

disable a RAT capability corresponding to the RAT, and

if PLMN selection is required, enable the RAT capability.

15. The terminal of claim 14 , further comprising:

the transceiver is configured to transmit, to the MME, an attach request message for the RAT, and

if a reject message comprising the information, is received in response to the attach request message, the controller is configured to disable the RAT capability.

16. The terminal of claim 14 , wherein the controller is configured to select another RAT in the PLMN.

17. The terminal of claim 14 , further comprising:

after disabling of the RAT capability, if the terminal is powered off and is powered on again, or if an subscriber identity module of the terminal is removed, the controller is configured to enable the RAT capability again.

18. The terminal of claim 14 , wherein the RAT is configured for use in an evolved universal terrestrial radio access network (E-UTRAN).
