Abstract

A developer accommodating unit for accommodating a developer for image formation includes a flexible container provided with an opening 35 a for permitting discharge of the developer, a frame for accommodating the flexible container and for accommodating the developer to be discharged from the flexible container, and an urging member 21 for urging a developer accommodating bag toward the frame for accommodating the developer accommodating bag 16 . By this, it is possible to satisfactorily effect discharge of the developer from the flexible developer accommodating bag 16.

Claims (86)

1. A developer accommodating unit for accommodating developer, said developer accommodating unit comprising:

a flexible container having an inner space and an opening in a surface thereof, said flexible container being capable of discharging the developer from the inner space through the opening;

a frame for accommodating said flexible container; and

an urging member provided inside said frame and outside said flexible container, said urging member being configured to be movable relative to said frame for deforming said flexible container,

wherein said urging member changes a position of the opening relative to said frame by urging said surface of said flexible container during an image formation operation.

2. A developer accommodating unit according to claim 1 , wherein said urging member is a sheet-like member.

3. A developer accommodating unit according to claim 1 , wherein a gap is provided between said flexible container and said frame.

4. A developer accommodating unit according to claim 3 , wherein the gap is provided between a side continuous, via a bent portion of said flexible container, with a side where the opening of said flexible container is formed, and said frame.

5. A developer accommodating unit according to claim 3 , wherein the gap is configured to become larger as the gap approaches a side where the opening of said flexible container is formed.

6. A developer accommodating unit according to claim 1 , further comprising a developer carrying member for carrying the developer for developing a latent image.

7. A developer accommodating unit according to claim 1 , wherein the opening is provided in a plurality of positions of said flexible container.

8. A developer accommodating unit according to claim 1 , wherein said flexible container has a shape including a plurality of sides sandwiching a bent portion, and

wherein said urging member urges a side where the opening is present.

9. A developer accommodating unit according to claim 1 , wherein said flexible container is provided so that the opening opens downward with respect to a direction of gravitation during image formation.

A developer accommodating unit according to claim 1 , wherein said urging member is provided rotatably relative to said frame, and is a rotatable member including, in a cross section perpendicular to a rotation center of said urging member, portions different in distance from the rotation center of said urging member to an outer end of said urging member.

11. A developer accommodating unit according to claim 1 , wherein said flexible container is a bag.

12. A developer accommodating unit according to claim 1 , wherein said flexible container is constituted by a sheet.

13. A developer accommodating unit according to claim 12 , wherein a thickness of the sheet is 0.03 mm to 0.15 mm.

14. A developer accommodating unit according to claim 1 , wherein said flexible container includes a portion having air-permeability.

15. A developer accommodating unit according to claim 1 , wherein said flexible container includes any of polyethylene terephthalate (PET), polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP).

16. A process cartridge detachably mountable to an image forming apparatus main assembly, which is a process cartridge in which a developer accommodating unit according to claim 1 and an electrophotographic photosensitive member are integral with each other.

17. An electrophotographic image forming apparatus comprising any one of:

per accommodating unit according to claim 1 ; and

a process cartridge according to claim 16 .

18. A developing device comprising:

a developer carrying member for carrying the developer; and

a developer accommodating unit according to claim 1 .

19. A developer accommodating unit according to claim 1 , wherein said urging member is contactable with the developer to stir the developer.

20. A developer accommodating unit according to claim 1 , wherein said flexible container is deformable so that a deformation caused by said urging member is restored.

21. A developer accommodating unit for accommodating developer, said developer accommodating unit comprising:

a flexible container that accommodates the developer, said flexible container being capable of discharging the developer from an opening;

a frame for accommodating said flexible container; and

an urging member provided inside said frame and outside said flexible container, said urging member being configured to be movable relative to said frame for deforming said flexible container, and said urging member being contactable to the developer,

wherein said urging member urges a surface of said flexible container having the opening.

22. A developer accommodating unit according to claim 21 , wherein said urging member is contactable with the developer to stir the developer.

23. A developer accommodating unit according to claim 21 , wherein said flexible container is deformable so that a deformation caused by said urging member is restored.

24. A developer accommodating unit for accommodating developer, said developer accommodating unit comprising:

a flexible container that accommodates the developer, said flexible container being capable of discharging the developer therein from an opening;

a frame for accommodating said flexible container; and

an urging member provided inside said frame and outside said flexible container, said urging member being configured to be contactable to a surface of said flexible container for deforming said flexible container, and said urging member being contactable to the developer,

wherein said urging member is provided rotatably relative to said frame.

25. A developer accommodating unit according to claim 24 , wherein said urging member is contactable with the developer to stir the developer.

26. A developer accommodating unit according to claim 24 , wherein said flexible container is deformable so that a deformation caused by said urging member is restored.

27. A developer accommodating unit for accommodating developer, said developer accommodating unit comprising:

a flexible container that accommodates the developer, said flexible container being capable of discharging the developer from an opening;

a frame for accommodating said flexible container; and

an urging member provided inside said frame and outside said flexible container, said urging member being configured to be movable relative to said frame for deforming said flexible container,

wherein said urging member is a stirring member for stirring the developer that is inside said frame and discharged from said flexible container, and said urging member is provided rotatably relative to said frame.

28. A developer accommodating unit for accommodating developer, said developer accommodating unit comprising:

a flexible container that accommodates the developer, said flexible container being capable of discharging the developer from an opening;

a frame for accommodating said flexible container; and

an urging member provided inside said frame and outside said flexible container, said urging member being configured to be movable relative to said frame for deforming said flexible container,

wherein said urging member is provided so as to urge said flexible container repeatedly while being contacted to and not being contacted to a surface of said flexible container, and

wherein said surface of said flexible container includes the opening.

29. A developer accommodating unit for accommodating developer, said developer accommodating unit comprising:

a flexible container that accommodates the developer, said flexible container being capable of discharging the developer therein from an opening;

a frame for accommodating said flexible container;

a sealing member for sealing the opening, said sealing member being attached to said flexible container;

an unsealing member attached to said sealing member and configured to peel off said sealing member from said flexible container by moving said sealing member; and

an urging member provided inside said frame and outside said flexible container, said urging member being configured to be contactable to a surface of said flexible container for deforming said flexible container,

wherein said unsealing member comprises said urging member and is contactable to the developer that is discharged from said flexible container.

30. A developer accommodating unit according to claim 29 , wherein said urging member is a sheet-like member and said urging member is deformable.

A developer accommodating unit according to claim 29 , wherein a gap is provided between said flexible container and said frame, and wherein the gap is provided between a side continuous, via a bent portion of said flexible container, with a side where the opening of said flexible container is formed and said frame.

32. A developer accommodating unit according to claim 29 , wherein a gap is provided between said flexible container and said frame, and

wherein the gap is configured to become larger as the gap approaches a side where the opening of said flexible container is formed.

33. A developer accommodating unit according to claim 29 , wherein the opening is provided in a plurality of positions of said flexible container.

34. A developer accommodating unit according to claim 29 , wherein said flexible container has a shape including a plurality of sides sandwiching a bent portion, and

wherein said urging member urges a side where the opening is present.

35. A developer accommodating unit according to claim 29 , wherein said flexible container is provided so that the opening opens downward with respect to a direction of gravitation during image formation.

36. A developer accommodating unit according to claim 29 , wherein said unsealing member is provided rotatably relative to said frame.

37. A developer accommodating unit according to claim 29 , wherein said flexible container incudes a portion having air-permeability.

38. A process cartridge detachably mountable to an image forming apparatus main assembly, which is a process cartridge in which a developer accommodating unit according to claim 29 and an electrophotographic photosensitive member are integral with each other.

39. A developing device comprising:

a developer carrying member for carrying the developer; and

a developer accommodating unit according to claim 29 .

40. A developer accommodating unit for accommodating developer, said developer accommodating unit comprising:

a flexible container that accommodates the developer, said flexible container being capable of discharging the developer from an opening;

a frame for accommodating said flexible container; and

a stirring member for stirring the developer, inside said frame, discharged from said flexible container,

wherein said stirring member functions as an unsealing member for unsealing the opening.

41. A developer accommodating unit for accommodating developer, said developer accommodating unit comprising:

a flexible container that accommodates the developer, said flexible container being capable of discharging the developer therein from an opening;

a frame for accommodating said flexible container;

a sealing member for sealing the opening, said sealing member being attached to said flexible container;

an unsealing member attached to said sealing member and configured to peel off said sealing member from said flexible container and to remove said sealing member from said flexible container by moving said sealing member; and

an urging member provided inside said frame and outside said flexible container, said urging member being configured to be contactable to a surface of said flexible container for deforming said flexible container.
