Abstract

Provided is a wind turbine for generating electric energy using wind power, and more specifically, a wind turbine having a nacelle fence for improving aerodynamic performance by mounting a fence structure on the nacelle of a horizontal axis wind turbine. The wind turbine having a nacelle fence decreases the vortex that is generated at the downstream ends of rotating blades so as to improve the aerodynamic performance of the blades, and increases the power coefficient of the wind turbine.

Claims (9)

1. A wind turbine having a nacelle fence, the wind turbine comprising:

a tower standing on a ground;

a nacelle mounted on an upper end of the tower;

rotor blades rotatably mounted on one side of the nacelle;

at least one nacelle fence formed on an outer circumferential surface of the nacelle, the at least one nacelle fence being spaced apart from the rotor blades at a predetermined distance and extending toward the other side of the nacelle,

wherein a longitudinal section of the at least one nacelle fence forms an angle with the nacelle, the angle is 90 degrees at a fence upstream end of the at least one nacelle fence, and the angle gradually decreases towards a fence downstream end of the at least one nacelle fence.

2. The wind turbine of claim 1 , wherein the at least one nacelle fence is formed to have a lateral section inclined by a predetermined angle with respect to a rotating shaft of the rotor blades.

3. The wind turbine of claim 1 , wherein the at least one nacelle fence is formed to have a lateral section inclined in an opposite direction with respect to a rotation direction of the rotor blades, as it goes toward the fence downstream end from the fence upstream end.

4. The wind turbine of claim 1 , wherein the at least one nacelle fence includes two or more nacelle fences spaced apart from each other.
