Abstract

Methods, apparatuses, systems, and devices are described for wireless communication. In one method, at least a first carrier may be monitored for an indication of a clear channel assessment (CCA) for a second carrier in a shared spectrum, and communication may take place using the second carrier based on the indication. In another method, a CCA may be performed for a second carrier second carrier of a shared spectrum, and an indication of the CCA for the second carrier may be transmitted on a first carrier.

Claims (54)

1. A method for wireless communication, comprising:

monitoring a first carrier for an indication of a result of a clear channel assessment (CCA) for a second carrier, wherein the first carrier is in a licensed dedicated spectrum and the second carrier is in a shared spectrum; and

communicating using the second carrier based on the indication of the result.

2. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

monitoring a broadcast or a multicast channel on the first carrier, where the indication of the result of the CCA for the second carrier is in the broadcast or the multicast channel.

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the indication of the result of the CCA is in at least one of a downlink transmission grant or an uplink transmission grant.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the indication of the result of the CCA comprises an indication of whether the CCA for the second carrier was successful.

5. The method of claim 4 , further comprising:

determining a total acknowledgment (ACK)/negative-acknowledgment (NACK) payload size in an uplink subframe based on the indication of whether the CCA for the second carrier was successful.

6. The method of claim 5 , further comprising:

determining a channel state information (CSI) feedback for the second carrier in an uplink subframe based on the indication of whether the CCA for the second carrier was successful.

7. The method of claim 1 , wherein the CCA is part of an extended CCA (ECCA) operation.

8. The method of claim 1 , wherein the CCA is performed by a base station or a user equipment.

9. The method of claim 1 , wherein communicating using the second carrier based on the indication further comprises:

communicating cellular network traffic, cellular network signaling, or both using the second carrier.

10. An apparatus for wireless communication, comprising:

a processor; and

memory coupled to the processor, wherein the processor is configured to:

monitor a first carrier for an indication of a result of a clear channel assessment (CCA) for a second carrier, wherein the first carrier is in a licensed dedicated spectrum and the second carrier is in a shared spectrum; and

communicate using the second carrier based on the indication.

11. The apparatus of claim 10 , wherein the processor is further configured to:

monitor a broadcast or a multicast channel on the first carrier, wherein the indication of the result of the CCA for the second carrier is in the broadcast or the multicast channel.

12. The apparatus of claim 10 , wherein the indication of the result of the CCA is in at least one of a downlink transmission grant or an uplink transmission grant.

13. The apparatus of claim 10 , wherein the indication of the result of the CCA comprises an indication of whether the CCA for the second carrier was successful.

14. The apparatus of claim 13 , wherein the processor is further configured to:

determine a total acknowledgment (ACK)/negative-acknowledgment (NACK) payload size in an uplink subframe based on the indication of whether the CCA for the second carrier was successful.

15. The apparatus of claim 14 , wherein the processor is further configured to:

determine a channel state information (CSI) feedback for the second carrier in an uplink subframe based on the indication whether the CCA for the second carrier was successful.

16. A method for wireless communications, comprising:

performing a clear channel assessment (CCA) for a second carrier of a shared spectrum; and

transmitting an indication of a result of the CCA for the second carrier on a first carrier, wherein the first carrier is in a licensed dedicated spectrum.

17. The method of claim 16 , further comprising:

transmitting a broadcast or a multicast channel on the first carrier, wherein the indication of the result of the CCA for the second carrier is in the broadcast or the multicast channel.

18. The method of claim 16 , wherein the indication of the result of the CCA is in at least one of a downlink transmission grant or an uplink transmission grant.

19. The method of claim 16 , wherein the indication of the result of the CCA comprises an indication of whether the CCA for the second carrier was successful.

20. The method of claim 19 , further comprising:

determining a total acknowledgment (ACK)/negative-acknowledgment (NACK) payload size in an uplink subframe based on the indication of whether the CCA for the second carrier was successful.

21. The method of claim 20 , further comprising:

determining a channel state information (CSI) feedback for the second carrier in an uplink subframe based on the indication of whether the CCA for the second carrier was successful.

22. The method of claim 16 , wherein the CCA is part of an extended CCA (ECCA) operation.

23. The method of claim 16 , further comprising:

communicating cellular network traffic, cellular network signaling, or both using the second carrier.

24. An apparatus for wireless communication, comprising:

a processor; and

memory coupled to the processor, wherein the processor is configured to:

perform a clear channel assessment (CCA) for a second carrier of a shared spectrum; and

transmit an indication of a result of the CCA for the second carrier on a first carrier, wherein the first carrier is in a licensed dedicated spectrum.

25. The apparatus of claim 24 , wherein the processor is further configured to:

transmit a broadcast or a multicast channel on the first carrier, wherein the indication of the result of the CCA for the second carrier is in the broadcast or the multicast channel.

26. The apparatus of claim 24 , wherein the CCA is part of an extended CCA (ECCA) operation.

27. The apparatus of claim 24 , wherein the processor is further configured to:

determine a total acknowledgment (ACK)/negative-acknowledgment (NACK) payload size in an uplink subframe based on the indication of the result of the CCA for the second carrier.

28. The apparatus of claim 24 , wherein the processor is further configured to:

determining a channel state information (CSI) feedback for the second carrier in an uplink subframe based on the indication of the result the CCA for the second carrier.
