Method for producing a polarized eyewear
A method for producing polarized eyewear is disclosed, which includes providing a polarizing film or a blank of the eyewear having a polarizing film, whereby the polarizing film is made of a substrate film and a polarizing agent; dipping the polarizing film or the blank with the polarizing film into a solvent; and dissolving the polarizing agent from the polarizing film.
1. A method for producing polarized eyewear, comprising:
providing a polarizing film or an eyewear blank having the polarizing film, wherein the polarizing film includes a substrate film and a polarizing agent;
dipping the polarizing film or the blank having the polarizing film into a solvent; and,
dissolving the polarizing agent from the polarizing film,
wherein the polarizing film or the blank having the polarizing film is dipped into the solvent for a duration of from 30 minutes to 250 minutes and the temperature of the solvent is kept between 15° C. and 38° C.

The method according to claim 1 , wherein the substrate film comprises at least one member from the group consisting of polyvinyl alcohol, a polyvinyl alcohol derivative, a polyene film obtained by dehydrochlorinating a polyvinyl chloride film, and a polyene film obtained by dehydrating a polyvinyl alcohol film.
3. The method according to claim 1 , wherein the polarizing agent comprises iodine, a dichroic dye, or iodine and a dichroic dye.
4. The method according to claim 3 , wherein the dichroic dye is selected from the group consisting of an azo-compound bearing the functional group R—N═N—R, in which R and R can be independently either aryl or alkyl; a naphtha-compound; an anthraquinone-compound; and a mixture thereof.
5. The method according to claim 1 , wherein the solvent comprises a polar agent.
6. The method according to claim 5 , wherein the polar agent is selected from the group consisting of water, an alcohol, acetone, and a mixture thereof.
7. The method according to claim 1 , wherein the solvent comprises a non-polar agent.
8. The method according to claim 7 , wherein the non-polar agent is selected from the group consisting of C n H n , C n H n+2 toluene, chloroform, diethyl ether, and a mixture thereof.
9. The method according to claim 1 , wherein the temperature of the solvent is kept between 38° C. and 40° C. while the polarizing film or the blank having the polarizing film is dipped into the solvent.
10. The method according to claim 1 , wherein the polarizing film or the blank having the polarizing film is dipped into the solvent for a duration of from 30 minutes to 150 minutes.
11. The method according to claim 1 , wherein the polarizing film or the blank having the polarizing film is dipped into the solvent with a varying depth of immersion.
12. The method according to claim 11 , wherein the depth of immersion is reduced by more than 1 cm per 200 minutes.
13. The method according to claim 11 , wherein the depth of immersion is increased by more than 1 cm per 200 minutes.
14. The method according to claim 1 , wherein the solvent is moved relative to the polarized film or the blank having the polarized film while the polarized film or the blank having the polarized film is dipped in the solvent.
15. The method according to claim 1 , wherein the solvent comprises a reactive agent capable of reacting with the polarizing agent.
16. The method according to claim 1 , further comprising:
casting the polarizing film or the blank having the polarizing film into a lens after dipping the polarizing film or the blank having the polarizing film into the solvent.
17. The method according to claim 1 , wherein the temperature of the solvent is kept between 18° C. and 38° C.
18. The method according to claim 14 , wherein the solvent is ultrasonically moved relative to the polarized film or the blank having the polarized film.
