Claims (80)

1. A method comprising:

determining, by a computer system, an outcome for a game played on a mobile gaming device, in which playing the game includes making a wager on the outcome;

determining, by the computer system, that a position of the mobile gaming device is in a predetermined distance of a retail establishment based on at least one of a signal strength, a video analysis, and a GPS signal;

determining, by the computer system, that the wager results in a payout that includes desired characteristic, in which the payout is based on the outcome, in which the desired characteristic includes the payout being greater than a threshold value, and in which the threshold value includes an amount of money greater than zero;

in response to determining that the wager results in the payout and that the position is in the predetermined distance, determining, by the computer system, that some promotion should be transmitted to the mobile gaming device;

in response to determining that some promotion should be transmitted, determining a promotion from a plurality of promotions, in which determining the promotion includes determining the promotion based on an amount of the payout, in which the promotion is for a product of the retail establishment; and

transmitting, from the computer system, the promotion to the mobile gaming device.

2. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

presenting the promotion on the mobile gaming device;

transmitting information for display to a stationary display device without receiving a request for such transmission from a player of the game;

determining that the stationary display device is in a certain range of the mobile gaming device, in which transmitting the information for display includes transmitting the information for display in response to determining that the stationary display device is in a certain range;

determining that the stationary display device is in a line of sight of the mobile gaming device, in which transmitting the information for display includes transmitting the information for display in response to determining that the stationary display device is in the line of sight;

displaying the information on the stationary display device;

determining that the stationary display device is not restricted from use in the promotion based on a manufacturer of the stationary display device;

determining the product based on a time of day;

determining that the mobile gaming device is in proximity to a plurality of humans;

adjusting a player's monetary account based on the outcome;

determining that a second stationary display device is restricted from use in the promotion based on a manufacturer of the second stationary display device; and

preventing display of the information through the second stationary display device in response to determining that the second stationary display device is restricted,

in which the information is transmitted from the mobile gaming device,

in which the game includes a video slots game,

in which the promotion includes a monetary benefit to a user of the mobile gaming device,

in which determining that some promotion should be transmitted includes determining that some promotion should be transmitted in response to determining that the mobile gaming device is in proximity to the plurality of humans,

in which determining that some promotion should be transmitted includes determining that some promotion should be transmitted because the payout is above the threshold value,

in which determining that some promotion should be transmitted includes determining that the payout includes a payout from a near miss of a winning outcome that would have resulted in a larger payout,

in which the promotion is determined in part based on the larger payout,

in which the larger payout includes a jackpot win,

in which the promotion is determined based on a price of the product, and

in which a time associated with the outcome is later than a time associated with the position.

3. The method of claim 1 , further comprising transmitting information for display to a stationary display device without receiving a request for such transmission from a player of the game.

4. The method of claim 3 , in which the information is transmitted from the mobile gaming device.

5. The method of claim 3 , further comprising determining that the stationary display device is in a certain range of the mobile gaming device and in which transmitting the information for display includes transmitting the information for display in response to determining that the stationary display device is in a certain range.

6. The method of claim 3 , further comprising determining that the stationary display device is in a line of sight of the mobile gaming device and in which transmitting the information for display includes transmitting the information for display in response to determining that the stationary display device is in the line of sight.

7. The method of claim 3 , further comprising determining that the stationary display device is in a same room as the mobile gaming device and in which transmitting the information for display includes transmitting the information for display in response to determining that the stationary display device is in the same room.

8. The method of claim 3 , further comprising determining, by the computer system, that the stationary display device is in a signal range of the mobile gaming device, in which the mobile gaming device, stationary device, and computer system are remote from one another, and in which transmitting the information for display includes transmitting the information for display in response to determining that the stationary display device is in the signal range.

9. The method of claim 3 , further comprising determining, by the stationary display device, that a signal strength from the mobile gaming device is above a threshold value, in which the threshold value includes a positive non-zero amount of power such that said determination includes a determination that the signal strength is greater than the positive non-zero amount, and in response to said determination, displaying the information.

10. The method of claim 3 , further comprising determining that the mobile gaming device is present near the stationary display device based on at least one of a signal strength, a video analysis, a GPS signal, and a mapping of at least one physical location of devices.

11. The method of claim 3 , further comprising displaying the information on the stationary display device.

12. The method of claim 11 , further comprising determining that the stationary display device is not restricted from use in the promotion based on a manufacturer of the stationary display device.

13. The method of claim 1 , further comprising adjusting a player's monetary account based on the outcome.

14. The method of claim 1 , in which the game includes a video slots game.

15. The method of claim 1 , further comprising determining the product based on a time of day.

16. The method of claim 1 , in which the promotion includes a monetary benefit to a user of the mobile gaming device.

17. The method of claim 1 , further comprising determining that the mobile gaming device is in proximity to a plurality of humans.

18. The method of claim 17 , in which determining that some promotion should be transmitted includes determining that some promotion should be transmitted in response to determining that the mobile gaming device is in proximity to the plurality of humans.

19. The method of claim 17 , further comprising determining a volume level that is greater than normal based on the proximity and amplifying a volume of the promotion to the greater than normal level based on the determination that the mobile gaming device is in proximity to the plurality of humans, in which the normal level includes a positive non-zero volume level for presenting promotions when the mobile gaming device is not in the proximity of humans.

20. The method of claim 1 , in which determining that some promotion should be transmitted includes determining that some promotion should be transmitted because the payout is above the threshold value.

21. The method of claim 1 , in which determining that some promotion should be transmitted includes determining that the payout exceeds a multiple of the wager.

22. The method of claim 1 , in which determining that some promotion should be transmitted includes determining that the payout includes a payout from a bonus round of the game.
