Abstract

Compounds and methods of modulating 15-PGDH activity, modulating tissue prostaglandin levels, treating disease, diseases disorders, or conditions in which it is desired to modulate 15-PGDH activity and/or prostaglandin levels include 15-PGDH inhibitors and 15-PGDH activators described herein.

Claims (20)

1. A pharmaceutical composition comprising: a compound having the following formula:

wherein n is 0-2;

R 1 is a C 1-8 alkyl, which is linear, branched, or cyclic and which is unsubstituted or substituted;

R 6 is a thiazolyl and R 7 is selected from the group consisting of a substituted or unsubstituted aryl, heteroaryl, cycloalkyl, or heterocyclyl, and pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof; and a pharmaceutically acceptable excipient.

2. The pharmaceutical composition of claim 1 , wherein n is 1.

3. A pharmaceutical composition consisting essentially of a compound having the formula:

and pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof.

4. A pharmaceutical composition comprising a compound having the formula:

and pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof wherein the composition includes greater than 99% by weight of the R(+) isomer of the compound and less than 1% by weight of the S(−) isomer of the compound.

5. The pharmaceutical composition of claim 1 , wherein the compound inhibits 15-PGDH enzyme activity.

6. The pharmaceutical composition of claim 1 , wherein the compound has the formula:

and pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof.

7. A pharmaceutical composition comprising: a compound that inhibits 15-PGDH enzyme activity, the compound having the formula:

wherein n is 0-2;

R 1 is a C 1-8 alkyl, which is linear, branched, or cyclic and which is unsubstituted or substituted;

8. The pharmaceutical composition of claim 7 , wherein n is 1.

9. The pharmaceutical composition of claim 8 , wherein R 7 is a substituted or unsubstituted aryl.

10. The composition of claim 9 , wherein the compound has the formula:

and pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof.
