Abstract

A broadcast signal transmitter is presented. The broadcast signal transmitter includes a Forward Error Correction (FEC) encoder configured to perform error correction processing on Physical Layer Pipe (PLP) data, a bit interleaver configured to bit-interleave the PLP data, a mapper configured to perform constellation mapping on the PLP data, a framer configured to generate a signal frame comprising the PLP data, and a waveform generator configured to generate a transmission signal comprising the signal frame. The signal frame of the transmission signal comprises a bootstrap, a preamble, and a data part. The bootstrap comprises preamble structure information about the preamble. The preamble comprises at least one preamble symbol. The at least preamble symbol carries Layer 1 (L1) signaling data for the signal frame. The first preamble symbol comprises preamble_symbol_number information, and the preamble_symbol_number information indicates a number of preamble symbols other than the first preamble symbol.

Claims (36)

1. A broadcast signal transmitter, comprising:

a Forward Error Correction (FEC) encoder configured to perform error correction processing on Physical Layer Pipe (PLP) data;

a bit interleaver configured to bit-interleave the PLP data;

a mapper configured to perform constellation mapping on the PLP data;

a framer configured to generate a signal frame comprising the PLP data; and

a waveform generator configured to generate a transmission signal comprising the signal frame,

wherein the signal frame of the transmission signal comprises a bootstrap, a preamble, and at least one subframe,

wherein the bootstrap comprises preamble structure information about the preamble,

wherein the preamble comprises at least one preamble symbol, and the at least one preamble symbol carries Layer 1 (L1) signaling data for the signal frame,

wherein a first preamble symbol comprises preamble_symbol_number information, and the preamble_symbol_number information indicates a number of preamble symbols other than the first preamble symbol, and

wherein the subframe comprises at least one subframe boundary symbol, and the subframe boundary symbol is a first symbol or a last symbol of the subframe which has a greater scattered pilot density than data symbol.

2. The broadcast signal transmitter of claim 1 , wherein the preamble structure information indicates a modulation/coding mode, a Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) size, a Guard Interval (GI) length, and a pilot pattern of the preamble.

3. The broadcast signal transmitter of claim 1 ,

wherein the first preamble symbol of the at least one preamble symbol has a minimum number of carriers (NoC), and

wherein the first preamble symbol comprises NoC-related information indicating an NoC for at least one remaining preamble symbol when the preamble comprises a plurality of preamble symbols.

4. The broadcast signal transmitter of claim 1 ,

wherein the waveform generator comprises a pilot inserter configured to insert pilots into the signal frame,

wherein the plurality of preamble symbols comprise preamble pilots, and

wherein, for the preamble pilots, a number of symbols forming one pilot sequence in a time direction (Dy) is 1, and a separation of pilots in a frequency direction (Dx) is indicated by the preamble structure information.

5. A method of transmitting a broadcast signal, the method comprising:

performing error correction processing on Physical Layer Pipe (PLP) data;

bit-interleaving the PLP data;

performing constellation mapping on the PLP data;

generating a signal frame comprising the PLP data; and

generating a transmission signal comprising the signal frame,

wherein the signal frame of the transmission signal comprises a bootstrap, a preamble, and at least one subframe,

wherein the bootstrap comprises preamble structure information about the preamble,

wherein the preamble comprises at least one preamble symbol, and the at least one preamble symbol carries Layer 1 (L1) signaling data for the signal frame,

wherein a first preamble symbol comprises preamble_symbol_number information, and the preamble_symbol_number information indicates a number of preamble symbols other than the first preamble symbol, and

wherein the subframe comprises at least one subframe boundary symbol, and the subframe boundary symbol is a first symbol or a last symbol of the subframe which has a greater scattered pilot density than data symbol.

6. The method of claim 5 , wherein the preamble structure information indicates a modulation/coding mode, a Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) size, a Guard Interval (GI) length, and a pilot pattern of the preamble.

7. The method of claim 5 , wherein the first preamble symbol of the at least one preamble symbol has a minimum number of carriers (NoC), and

wherein the first preamble symbol comprises NoC-related information indicating an NoC for at least one remaining preamble symbol when the preamble comprises a plurality of preamble symbols.

8. The method of claim 5 , wherein the waveform generator comprises a pilot inserter configured to insert pilots into the signal frame,

wherein the plurality of preamble symbols comprise preamble pilots, and

wherein, for the preamble pilots, a number of symbols forming one pilot sequence in a time direction (Dy) is 1, and a separation of pilots in a frequency direction (Dx) is indicated by the preamble structure information.
