Maximum axial position changing RPM methods
Methods that can be used to “limit the maximum shaft/spline rpm (speed) at which axial position changing of a variator mounted on it is performed to a “maximum axial position changing rpm value” for all variator mounted shafts/splines of a CVT, while still allowing a safe driving experience and also allowing the driver to use the full power of the engine when needed.
1. A method that can be used to limit a maximum shaft/spline rpm at which axial position changing of a variator mounted on said shaft/spline is performed to a maximum axial position changing rpm value for an input shaft/spline and an output shaft/spline of a CVT, while still allowing a safe driving experience and also allowing a driver to use a full power of an engine when needed, by:
a) assigning a maximum axial position changing rpm value to said input shaft/spline and assigning a maximum axial position changing rpm value to said output shaft/spline;
b) only changing an axial position of a variator mounted on said input shaft/spline when said maximum axial position changing rpm value assigned to said input shaft/spline is not exceeded; and only changing an axial position of a variator mounted on said output shaft/spline when said maximum axial position changing rpm value assigned to said output shaft/spline is not exceeded;
c) providing indication when at least one of said maximum axial position value assigned to said input shaft/spline and said maximum axial position changing rpm value assigned to said output shaft/spline is exceeded, so that the driver of said CVT knows that he/she needs to reduce an rpm of the engine in order to allow for continuous/uninterrupted changing of the axial positions of said variators.
2. The method of claim 1 , wherein said indication is an alarm sound indication.
3. The method of claim 1 , wherein said indication is a message sound indication.
4. The method of claim 1 , wherein said indication is a visual signal indication.
5. The method of claim 1 , wherein said indication is a visual text indication.
6. The method of claim 1 , wherein said indication is a haptic indication.
7. A method that can be used to limit a maximum shaft/spline rpm at which axial position changing of a variator mounted on said shaft/spline is performed to a maximum axial position changing rpm value for an input shaft/spline and an output shaft/spline of a CVT, while still allowing a safe driving experience and also allowing a driver to use a full power of an engine when needed, by:
a) assigning a maximum axial position changing rpm value to said input shaft/spline and assigning a maximum axial position changing rpm value to said output shaft/spline;
b) only changing an axial position of a variator mounted on said input shaft/spline when said maximum axial position changing rpm value assigned to said input shaft/spline is not exceeded; and only changing an axial position of a variator mounted on said output shaft/spline when said maximum axial position changing rpm value assigned to said output shaft/spline is not exceeded;
c) labeling of an rpm dial indicator to show a maximum engine rpm at which no said maximum axial position changing rpm value will be exceeded, so that the driver knows how much he/she needs to reduce an engine rpm when at least one of said maximum axial position value assigned to said input shaft/spline and said maximum axial position changing rpm value assigned to said output shaft/spline is exceeded in order to allow for continuous/uninterrupted changing of the axial positions of said variators.
8. The method of claim 7 , wherein said labeling of the rpm dial indicator is a Non-adjusted CVT Maximum Transmission Ratio Changing RPM Mark.
9. The method of claim 7 , wherein said labeling of the rpm dial indicator is a Changing to show actual CVT Maximum Transmission Ratio Changing RPM Mark, which indicates an actual maximum engine rpm at which no said maximum axial position changing rpm value is exceeded.
10. The method of claim 9 , wherein a controlling computer can determine said Changing to show actual CVT Maximum Transmission Ratio Changing RPM Mark by calculating and selecting from a smaller engine rpm between:
a) an engine rpm where a speed of said input shaft/spline is equal to said maximum axial position changing rpm value assigned to said input shaft/spline at a current transmission ratio; and
b) an engine rpm where a speed of said output shaft/spline is equal to said maximum axial position changing rpm value assigned to said output shaft/spline at said current transmission ratio.
