Abstract

A method includes displaying, by a video display device, to a user of a client device, a broadcast of an audiovisual data feed. The method includes receiving, by the client device, an identification of a portion of the audiovisual data feed. The method includes generating, by the client device, a time-constrained video from the identified portion of the audiovisual data feed.

Claims (23)

1. A method comprising:

displaying, by a video display device, to a user of a client device, a broadcast of an audiovisual data feed, the video display device and the client device comprising separate devices both associated with the user;

receiving, by the client device, from the user, an identification of a portion of the audiovisual data feed viewed by the user in the display of the broadcast by the video display device;

determining, by the client device, that a provider of the broadcast divided the audiovisual data feed of the broadcast into a plurality of segments prior to broadcasting the audiovisual data feed;

providing, by the client device, the user with access to a first video including the plurality of the provider-divided segments containing content from the audiovisual data feed broadcast to the video display device;

generating, by the client device, a second and time-constrained video including a subset of the plurality of provider-divided segments, the subset including at least one provider-divided segment associated with the identified portion of the audiovisual data feed broadcast to the video display device;

receiving, by the client device, from the user, an instruction to combine the second, time-constrained video with a third, time-constrained video on the client device, the third, time-constrained video including content that is (i) generated by the user and (ii) distinct from the provider-divided segments; and

generating, by the client device, a combination of the second, time-constrained video with the third, time-constrained video,

wherein the second, time-constrained video and the third, time-constrained video are each of a fixed maximum length.

2. The method of claim 1 further comprising providing, by the client device, the user with an interface for sharing the combination of the second, time-constrained video and the third, time-constrained video.

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein displaying further comprises displaying a broadcast of a live event.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the user is a first user, wherein the client device is a first client device, wherein the method further comprises:

providing, by the client device, to the first user, an interface to view time-constrained videos generated by other users of a plurality of client devices, the respective time-constrained videos generated by the other users from the identified portion of the audiovisual data feed including at least one segment selected by the respective user with the respective client device.

5. The method of claim 4 further comprising:

providing, by the first client device, the first user with an interface for sharing the combination of the second, time-constrained video and the third, time-constrained video with the respective users; and

providing, by the plurality of client devices, to the other users, interfaces for sharing the time-constrained videos generated by the respective users with one another and with the first user, respectively.

6. The method of claim 5 , wherein displaying further comprises displaying a live broadcast of an event to the first user and each of the respective users.

7. The method of claim 6 further comprising generating includes generating the combination of the second, time-constrained video and the third, time-constrained video during the live broadcast.

8. The method of claim 7 further comprising sharing the combination of the second, time-constrained video and the third, time-constrained video with the other users, by the first user, during the live broadcast.

9. The method of claim 8 further comprising generating by at least one user included in the other users, by a client device possessed by the at least one user, a time-constrained video including content included in the combination of the second, time-constrained video and the third, time-constrained video shared by the first user during the live broadcast.

10. The method of claim 4 further comprising synchronizing the video display device and the first client device.

11. The method of claim 4 further comprising including sponsored content in at least one segment included in the plurality of segments.

12. The method of claim 11 , further comprising providing the sponsored content in an unalterable form.
