Abstract

A personalized way to digitally record a person's physical activities over time serves web searching, business advertising, nostalgia, security and object tracing purposes. The chronological digital history of the person's physical presence over a time includes (i) digital network entries from other members who hold their portable wireless short range device near the person's device and transmit a URL or other key data and (ii) digital member entries such a digital photograph of a store sign. The digital network entries and digital member entries are automatically transmitted to a database located on a telecommunications network at a time of entry. Advertisers can transmit to members when members enter premises of advertiser's store. Upon sign-up online, the authentication data uniquely associated with an account is provided and key data they want to transmit is associated with the account. Digital histories can be used to improve web searching and networking opportunities.

Claims (27)

1. A method of combining enhanced computerized searching for a target business with use of humans as physical encounter links, comprising:

maintaining a server computer connected to a telecommunications network;

using a series of individuals as physical encounter links in a member network based on physical encounters between a first type of member of the member network and a second type of member of the member network, the first type being the individual member and the second type being a stationary vendor member,

configuring a handheld mobile communication device of each individual member, that is in communication with a global positioning system (GPS), upon the physical encounter between the individual member and the stationary vendor member of a plurality of stationary vendor members of the member network at a physical premises of the stationary vendor member, to transmit key data of the stationary vendor member and of the individual member to the server computer automatically as a result of the physical encounter at the physical premises, a location of the individual member at the physical premises determined by the GPS, the key data being a URL or an identifier associated with the URL;

maintaining, using the server computer, a database of physical location histories of members of the network whose key data was transmitted to the server computer during the physical encounters,

determining, by one or more processors having access to the database, a physical location relationship recorded in the database between a searching person who is a member of the member network, a reference individual member of the member network and a first stationary vendor member of the plurality of stationary vendor members, upon the searching person making a search query on a search engine having access to the server computer; and

responding to the search query by generating a computerized search result that increases a ranking of the first stationary vendor member based on the physical location relationship wherein the relationship is as follows:

(a) the reference individual member's physical location history includes key data of the first stationary vendor member; and (b) the searching person's physical location history and the reference individual member's physical location history each include key data of a second stationary vendor member of the plurality of stationary vendor members,

wherein the searching person's physical location relationship to the first stationary vendor member is by three degrees of separation, the three degrees of separation defined to mean that the searching person has a physical location relationship with the second stationary vendor member who has a physical location relationship with the reference individual member who has a physical location relationship with the first stationary vendor member.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the second stationary vendor member and the first stationary vendor member are in different lines of business or in different geographical areas.

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the second stationary vendor member and the first stationary vendor member are in different lines of business.

4. The method of claim 3 , wherein the second stationary vendor member and the first stationary vendor member are in different geographical areas.

5. The method of claim 1 , wherein the increased ranking of the first stationary vendor member is based on the number of stationary vendor members of the plurality of stationary vendor members whose key data is included in a physical location history of both the searching person and the reference individual member.

6. The method of claim 1 , further comprising providing that a communication device of each stationary vendor member, that is in communication with a global positioning system (GPS) is configured, upon the physical encounter between the individual member and the stationary vendor member of a plurality of stationary vendor members of the network at the physical premises of the stationary vendor member, to transmit the key data of the stationary vendor member and of the individual member to the server computer automatically as a result of the physical encounter.

7. The method of claim 1 , wherein entries in the physical location histories have a time and place of entry associated with them and wherein the place of entry is obtained using a global positioning system in communication with the member.

8. The method of claim 1 , wherein the database also includes entries by individual members in their physical location histories of sensory images perceived by the individual member and recorded by the individual member.

9. The method of claim 1 , wherein the key data is a URL.

10. A system of combining enhanced searching for a target business with use of humans as physical encounter links, comprising:

a server computer connected to a telecommunications network;

a handheld mobile communication device of each individual member of the network, each individual member comprising a link in the network based on physical encounters between a first type of member of the member network and a second type of member of the member network, the first type being an individual member and the second type being a stationary vendor member,

the devices in communication with a global positioning system (GPS) and configured, upon the physical encounter between the individual member and the stationary vendor member of a plurality of stationary vendor members of the member network at a physical premises of the stationary vendor member, to transmit key data of the stationary vendor member and of the individual member to the server computer automatically as a result of the physical encounter at the physical premises, a location of the individual member at the physical premises determined by the GPS, the key data being a URL or an identifier associated with the URL;

the server computer having a database of physical location histories of members of the member network whose key data was transmitted to the server computer during the physical encounters,

one or more processors having access to the database and configured to determine a physical location relationship recorded in the database between a searching person who is a member of the member network, a reference individual member of the member network and a first stationary vendor member of the plurality of stationary vendor members, when the searching person makes a search query on a search engine having access to the server computer, the one or more processors also configured to respond to the search query by generating a computerized search result that increases a ranking of the first stationary vendor member based on the physical location relationship wherein the relationship is as follows:

(a) the reference individual member's physical location history includes key data of the first stationary vendor member; and (b) the searching person's physical location history and the reference individual member's physical location history each include key data of a second stationary vendor member of the plurality of stationary vendor members,

wherein the searching person's physical location relationship to the first stationary vendor member is by three degrees of separation, the three degrees of separation defined to mean that the searching person has a physical location relationship with the second stationary vendor member who has a physical location relationship with the reference individual member who has a physical location relationship with the first stationary vendor member.

11. The system of claim 10 , wherein the second stationary vendor member and the first stationary vendor member are in different lines of business.

12. The system of claim 10 , further comprising a communication device of each stationary vendor member, that is in communication with a global positioning system (GPS) is configured, upon the physical encounter between the individual member and the stationary vendor member of a plurality of stationary vendor members of the member network at the physical premises of the stationary vendor member, to transmit the key data of the stationary vendor member and of the individual member to the server computer automatically as a result of the physical encounter.
