Abstract

A security system in accordance with an embodiment of the present invention includes a security tag operable for connection to an object, a monitoring device operable to monitor whether a party removes or attempts to remove the security tag from the object; an alarm operable to emit a tamper signal when the monitoring device indicates that a party has removed or attempted to remove the security tag from the object in an unauthorized removal condition, and a remote collector system adapted to communicate with the security tag to set the security tag in the unauthorized removal condition and an authorized removal condition, wherein upon receipt of the tamper signal, the remote collector system generates a security message.

Claims (18)

1. A security tag system comprising:

a security tag configured to be connected to an object, wherein the security tag includes a wireless transceiver;

a remote collector system being configured to

communicate with the security tag via the wireless transceiver,

generate a security message when a location of the security tag corresponds to a predetermined unauthorized location, and

transmit the security message including the location of the security tag corresponding to the predetermined unauthorized location;

at least one camera configured to be turned to the location corresponding to the predetermined unauthorized location; and

at least one mobile device configured to

generate an interactive map of a commercial location and display the location of the security tag relative to the interactive map of the commercial location, and

receive and display a camera image of the at least one camera, the camera image corresponding to the location of the security tag corresponding to the predetermined unauthorized location.

2. The security tag system according to claim 1 , wherein the mobile device further comprises:

a display; and

an interactive map application that generates the interactive map of the commercial location.

3. The security tag system according to claim 1 , wherein the camera image is automatically accessed by and displayed on the at least one mobile device based upon the security message.

4. The security tag system according to claim 1 , wherein the camera image further comprises a live video feed from the at least one camera that is automatically accessed by and displayed on the at least one mobile device based upon the security message.

5. The security tag system according to claim 2 , wherein the interactive map application further being configured to

generate a graphical identifier based upon the location of the security tag corresponding to the predetermined unauthorized location, and

insert the graphical identifier within the interactive map application.
