Abstract

The present disclosure includes an endoprosthesis delivery system comprising an elongate member, such as a catheter, an endoprosthesis, a covering member disposed about the endoprosthesis, a tip, and an end cap. The tip and end cap can be integral to each other. The covering member can extend beyond the distal end of the endoprosthesis and onto the end cap. The end cap can comprise a tapered profile, which may assist in retraction of the catheter tip and end cap into an outer sheath. The end cap can further comprise one or more fins.

Claims (34)

1. An endoprosthesis delivery system comprising:

an elongate member;

an endoprosthesis comprising a proximal end and a distal end;

an end cap having a cylindrical body, a proximal end, a distal end, and an intermediate portion therebetween having a region of reduced diameter relative to a maximum diameter of the proximal end of the end cap, wherein the end cap is coupled to the elongate member adjacent to the distal end of the endoprosthesis such that the intermediate portion and a region having the maximum diameter are positioned distal to the distal end of the endoprosthesis; and

a covering member surrounding the endoprosthesis and extending therealong from at least the proximal end of the endoprosthesis to a position along the end cap distal to the distal end of the endoprosthesis such that a first portion of the covering member is positioned within the region of reduced diameter of the end cap, the first portion of the covering member having a diameter that is less than the maximum diameter of the proximal end of the end cap and greater than a diameter of the region of reduced diameter.

2. The endoprosthesis delivery system of claim 1 , further comprising a tip adjacent the distal end of the end cap.

3. The endoprosthesis delivery system of claim 2 , wherein the tip has a diameter larger than the region of reduced diameter of the intermediate portion of the end cap.

4. The endoprosthesis delivery system of claim 2 , wherein the tip and the end cap are integral.

5. The endoprosthesis delivery system of claim 1 , wherein a distal end of the covering member is the first portion of the covering member that is positioned within the region of reduced diameter.

6. The endoprosthesis delivery system of claim 1 , wherein the proximal end of the end cap comprises a fin.

7. The endoprosthesis delivery system of claim 6 , wherein the fin is angled relative to a longitudinal axis of the end cap.

8. The endoprosthesis delivery system of claim 6 , further comprising an outer shaft.

9. The endoprosthesis delivery system of claim 8 , wherein the outer shaft comprises an introducer sheath.

10. The endoprosthesis delivery system of claim 1 , wherein the covering member comprises a plurality of knit fibers.

11. The endoprosthesis delivery system of claim 10 , wherein the plurality of knit fibers are woven about an exterior surface of the endoprosthesis and constrain the endoprosthesis in the constrained configuration.

12. The endoprosthesis delivery system of claim 1 , further comprising a pull line coupled to the covering member.

13. The endoprosthesis delivery system of claim 1 , wherein the endoprosthesis is a stent.

14. The endoprosthesis delivery system of claim 1 , wherein the endoprosthesis is a stent-graft.

15. The endoprosthesis delivery system of claim 1 , wherein the covering member extends along and surrounds the endoprosthesis from at least the proximal end of the endoprosthesis to the distal end of the endoprosthesis.

16. An endoprosthesis delivery system comprising:

an elongate member;

an endoprosthesis comprising a proximal end and a distal end, and having a maximum diameter in a constrained state;

an end cap including an intermediate region having a diameter that is less than a maximum diameter of a region of the end cap proximal to the intermediate region and distal to the distal end of the endoprosthesis; and

a covering member surrounding the endoprosthesis and extending therealong from at least the proximal end of the endoprosthesis to a position along the end cap distal to the distal end of the endoprosthesis and terminating at the intermediate region such that a diameter of the covering member at the intermediate region is less than the maximum diameter of the region of the end cap proximal to the intermediate region.

17. The endoprosthesis delivery system of claim 16 , wherein the endcap has a proximal region with ridges along the proximal region.

18. The endoprosthesis delivery system of claim 17 , wherein the endoprosthesis has a scalloped end.

19. The endoprosthesis delivery system of claim 18 , wherein the covering member extends along the ridges of the proximal region of the end cap.

20. An endoprosthesis delivery system comprising:

an elongate member;

an outer shaft;

an endoprosthesis comprising a proximal end and a distal end;

an end cap having a cylindrical body, a proximal end including a fin, a distal end, and an intermediate portion therebetween having a region of reduced diameter relative to a maximum diameter of the proximal end of the end cap, wherein the end cap is coupled to the elongate member adjacent to the distal end of the endoprosthesis such that the intermediate portion and at least a portion of the fin is positioned distal to the distal end of the endoprosthesis; and

a covering member surrounding the endoprosthesis and extending therealong from at least the proximal end of the endoprosthesis to a position along the end cap distal to the distal end of the endoprosthesis such that a first portion of the covering member is positioned within the region of reduced diameter of the end cap, the first portion of the covering member having a diameter that is less than the maximum diameter of the end cap and greater than a diameter of the region of reduced diameter,

wherein the fin is configured to fold upon retraction of the end cap into the outer shaft.
