Abstract

Embodiments of the present disclosure include a pig ramp for receiving and supporting a pig in a pig receiver includes a frame portion having an inner diameter, the inner diameter of the ring being larger than an outer diameter of a pig. The pig ramp also includes one or more ramp segments extending longitudinally away from the frame portion, the one or more ramp segments being coupled to a back side of the frame portion at a lower portion and positioned to receive and support the pig when positioned thereon to elevate the pig above a bottom of a tubular.

Claims (18)

1. A method of removing a pig from a pig receiver, the method comprising:

positioning the pig on a pig ramp within a pig receiver;

venting gas from the pig receiver before opening the pig receiver;

opening the pig receiver having the pig positioned therein;

moving the pig along a portion of the pig ramp, the portion having a fluid tight seal formed between the portion of the pig ramp and a bore of the pig receiver; and

damming fluid accumulated within the pig receiver via the portion of the pig ramp, the damming including having the portion of the pig ramp block the accumulated fluid from flowing through an outlet of the pig receiver when the pig is removed from the pig receiver.

The method of claim 1 , further comprising arranging one or more ramp segments to extend longitudinally into the pig receiver from the portion of the pig ramp, the one or more ramp segments being arranged at an angle with respect to a radial axis of the portion of the pig ramp to receive and support the pig above a wall of the pig receiver.

The method of claim 1 , further comprising sliding the pig against a lip of the portion of the pig ramp when removing the pig from the pig receiver, the lip being positioned to remove debris accumulating on the pig and keeping the debris within the pig receiver when the pig is removed from the pig receiver.

4. The method of claim 1 , further comprising positioning a gasket about an inner diameter of the portion of the pig ramp such that the gasket contacts the pig as the pig is removed.

5. A method of removing a pig from a pig receiver, the method comprising:

venting gas from the pig receiver before opening the pig receiver;

opening the pig receiver when the pig is positioned therein;

moving the pig along a pig ramp when positioned within the pig receiver; and

damming fluid accumulated within the pig receiver, the damming including having a portion of the pig ramp positioned to block the accumulated fluid from flowing through an outlet of the pig receiver when the pig is removed from the pig receiver.

6. The method of claim 5 , further comprising arranging one or more ramp segments to extend longitudinally into the pig receiver from the portion of the pig ramp.

7. The method of claim 6 , wherein the one or more ramp segments is being arranged at an angle with respect to a radial axis of the portion of the pig ramp to receive and support the pig above a wall of the pig receiver.

The method of claim 6 , further comprising sliding the pig against a lip of the portion of the pig ramp when removing the pig from the pig receiver, the lip being positioned to remove debris accumulating on the pig and keeping the debris within the pig receiver when the pig is removed from the pig receiver.

9. The method of claim 6 , further comprising positioning a gasket about an inner diameter of the portion of the pig ramp such that the gasket contacts the pig as the pig is removed.
