Abstract

A mold for forming a joint spacer device or a part thereof includes a rigid container body having a first perimeter profile delimiting a first molding surface configured to shape a first portion of the joint spacer or a part thereof; and a rigid cover provided with a second perimeter profile delimiting a second molding surface configured to shape a second portion of the joint spacer or a part thereof. The rigid container body and the rigid cover are removably engageable to each other, at the first and the second perimeter profile, so as to delimit a cavity corresponding to the external configuration of the joint spacer or the part thereof. The mold includes a weakening system on the rigid container body and on the rigid cover so that they are separable into parts to allow the extraction of a spacer device or a part thereof, molded therebetween.

Claims (14)

1. A mold for forming a joint spacer device or a part thereof, comprising:

at least one rigid container body provided with at least one first perimeter profile delimiting at least one first molding surface configured to shape at least one first portion of said joint spacer device or said part thereof; and

at least one rigid cover provided with at least one second perimeter profile delimiting at least one second molding surface configured to shape at least one second portion of said joint spacer device or said part thereof,

said at least one rigid container body and said at least one rigid cover being engageable in a removable manner to each other, at said first and said second perimeter profile, so as to delimit a cavity corresponding to an external configuration of said joint spacer device or said part thereof,

wherein said mold comprises weakening means on said at least one rigid container body and on said rigid cover so that both said at least one rigid container body and said at least one rigid cover are separable into parts to allow extraction of said spacer device or said at least one part thereof, molded therebetween,

wherein said weakening means on said at least one rigid container travels in a longitudinal direction,

wherein said at least one rigid container is provided with at least one stiffening rib travelling in a transversal direction, so that said at least one rigid container is elastically undeformable,

wherein said at least one rigid container body has an edge delimiting at least one top access opening,

wherein said first perimeter profile is a shoulder located internally to said rigid container body, and

wherein said at least one rigid cover has a lower surface, and an upper or outer surface, as well as a perimeter edge for engagement with said edge of said rigid container body, and is configured so that said lower surface is insertable in said at least one rigid container body, with the second perimeter profile in abutment against said shoulder.

2. The mold according to claim 1 , wherein said weakening means on said rigid container body and on said rigid cover comprises at least one line with reduced thickness, so that said mold is separable into multiple portions at said at least one line with reduced thickness.

3. The mold according to claim 1 , wherein said second perimeter profile is provided on said lower surface of said rigid cover.

4. The mold according to claim 1 , wherein, on said lower surface of said rigid cover, at least one perimeter recess is defined, so that said edge of said rigid container body is configured to be fit inserted, with interference, in said perimeter recess.

5. The mold according to claim 1 , further comprising clamp-type additional removable engagement means between said rigid container body and said rigid cover.
